External component stuck on old version. Fusion doesn't see newer version available

I hvae a design that uses two instances of a configurable external component (It's called "hatch assembly").

At some point today, fusion lost the ability to update external component, and just crashed repeatedly.

Later I got an error complaining about configuration files on my hard drive (Screnshot 1).

I opened the external component, saved as a new design, and replaced both instances in the parent design. So far so good.

Now, I try to replace both instances by the latest version of the external components (v32, Screenshot 2), but fusion thinks the latest version is v28 (Screenshot 3).

The weirdest thing is that all the changes I made from v28 to v32 are present in what Fusion thinks is v28.

Lastly, any new changes I make to the external component (v33) are not picked up by the parent design, which is stuck in this weird v28.

This happens in two different PCs.
