Hi Paul,
thanks a lot for your elaborate replies!
>>Post 9: clear the cache
I have now cleared the cache, but when trying to open the model in question, I run into the same "A software problem has caused Fusion 360 to close unexpecttedly." error.
>>Post 10:When you said "exception error", were you referring to Fusion 360 crashing
Yes, it is always the same errror. Sorry if I gave unclear desciptions.
>>Both our crash reports also reference the sketch module
By designing the model (3D printer print head mounts), I took severeal models from different sources (Hotend, nozzle, Fans and blowers). I imported no sketches.
The only point, that was strange in the history of "our" problem model: In one import there were several bodies. I was able to combine all these bodies except of one. When I tried to combine it to the mail body, it always resulted into two bodies again, Fusion360 obviously giving the name for the second one.
Anyhow. All sketches are created in this model file from scratch and are very basic. They might of course contain some weird newbie actions, an experieced user would not choose to take.
>>if we can get a past version of the design open.
I tried to promote an older Version in Fusion360 but was not even able to open the version list of the model in the first step without crashing Fusion.
When clicking the Version button in the portal it's "Zugehörige Daten werden geladen" (Loading related data) forever.
> I've logged a ticket with our development team
I appreciate Autodesk beeing a company taking user problems serieously and having working processes. From my experience, that is not the case in all big IT companies today. Thanks for beeing quality oriented in this point.
>this experience does not help you gain trust the cloud. ... often a way to recover the data ...This case is particularly unique
I think, this is really a key problem and you're forestalling my thoughts:
When offered a versioning and a cloud repository I receive a loud and clear message: "This is modern times, you do not have to care about data security and integrity!"
One rare event of data loss then is enough to go old school again, exporting all versions worth keeping in some kind of open source data format locally and having it in the local backup routine. Why choosing a solition, that forces me into the cloud, when I do not need the collaboration features?
>>One of our developers was able to export a SAT format copy
Thanks for that! I'm able to open it and it helps starting over with this little project.
So, it's OK to close this thread.
Beeing active in the IT business myself, I would be happy to get a note about the end of the story sometimes in the future.
If your internal ticket needs some further details like the imported models, pls. let me know.
For now thanks for your detailed support, Paul!
Best regards
Peter
