Error importing ipt and/or STEP files

Since this morning we're experiencing problems with importing an Inventor ipt-file. It's a round part with 150 holes of 6.35 mm (which normally is not a problem for Fusion, we've had parts with 400+ holes). The import process takes a very long time, and after a while the following error appears.

"'#filename#' cannot be inserted into 'Untitled' because we are currently unable to read it in Fusion. Please try again later."

I've tried to change something in the model and upload it to Fusion again with the Fusion upload option in Inventor (2024). Uploading is successful, but opening it in Fusion generates the same error message. I've also been trying to export the ipt to STEP file, uploading the STEP file to Fusion and opening it in Fusion, again with the same error message.

Help is greatly appreciated, because we need to machine this part shortly.Fusion error opening _ 2.pngFusion error opening _ 1.png

I've got the same thing going in when trying to import .sldprt files using Desktop Connector. Just began this morning. I've lost hours of machine time because of this. I've been trying to redraw all of my files in fusion 360 which is a horrible workaround.

Yes, same problem here, trying to import Solidworks files through desktop connector.

If you use the upload function, Fusion will use an online converter to convert the STEP file into a Fusion format.

If you use the file->open command to open a STEP file, the conversion is performed locally on your machine by Fusion, which is usually very fast and avoids any problems with the online conversion.

Converting a Solidworks file to Fusion format works as expected, what doesn't work is inserting a Solidworks file (from the Data panel) into a current design, so I can keep the link to the Solidworks file.

Hi all,

We're tracking an issue with translation of external designs when using Desktop Connector or importing via FT. Like Trippy mentioned, a potential workaround is to use Import/upload.

You can follow Fusion's status here:

https://health.autodesk.com/

I'll update here once we have this resolved.

Cheers,

Karina

Thanks! Tried importing the same .ipt file this morning, and it's working now.
