Hey everyone. This is a two part problem. Starting with the larger immediate problem. I can't drop part views (for parts with many faces) into a drawing without F360 freezing. I can see in task manager that AcCore is working hard but not getting anywhere when left alone for a long time (steady at 17% CPU usage - full single core load prob, F360 at 50% ram usage, clock speed chilling at 3.9ghz). Is this a known issue with F360, or is there something I can do to make it run smoother? Is this an issue with my machine setup? I can't really drop a file in here to look at, but I can describe the process.
The part is a candy mold that fits on a baking sheet. I model an individual chocolate candy, drop it into an new 'master mold' file, and then pattern the component to fill the mold. This typically results in a pattern of ~10x15 chocolates. I model the base and walls of the mold around those candies, and then combine bodies into one body. The last combine always takes a while, but I'm not surprised there. I'm asking F360 to do a lot at once in that moment.
For fairly simple chocolate designs things slow down for ~10-30 seconds when I drop the base view into and engineering drawings, but otherwise things work well. When chocolate designs have 6+ features before patterning then the drawing creation wants to hang up and freeze. Some of the 6+ feature candies can be a little tricky with lofted surfaces, but a lot of them are fairly geometric and consist of mostly extrudes and fillets. I'm assuming this is an issue with the number of faces in the part, but maybe it is something else? If it is an issue with the number of faces, are there ways to force F360 to be more efficient (not display everything etc)?
I have tried a few things to improve performance without any luck:
- Just normal create drawing from 'master mold' design
- Add master mold body to new component, export into same folder as a F360 file, open up that export and try to create a drawing
- Export the body locally as a .step file, upload back into f360 and create drawing
- turn off design history and create drawing
- Working in offline mode
If this pushes the limits of what F360 can do, are there recomendations for 2D drawing software to use alongside F360? Would something like Inventor LT work, or have the same problem?
