Emboss to create tabs for snap together cylinder lid and base?

I'm learning Fusion360 and am stuck. I've been able to create the attached model that has a BASE and a LID. I'm now at the point where I need to create the "snap" - I've figured out how to create a sketch on the plane I want, but I tried projecting it to the surface of the cylinder and could never get that to work. I did some googling and the help page said to try "emboss" which seems to have worked for "half" of what I need. I need another deboss on the exact other side of this cylinder base., I then need to get the exact same thing onto the lid but a positive emboss instead of a negative.

Any guidance to get this projected to the surface or embossed correctly?

I have create an idea for a snap latch.  My worry is the catch will be a one time use as it will snap on and you will never get it off.  I filled the latch cavity, maybe making the latch catch a little shorter will allow you to deflect the lid enough to disengage it.  Let me know if you need further help.

I also fixed your model to be composed of Components.  You want to use components since you will want to animate the lid removal.  I had to just convert your Bodies to Components which is not the best way.  Normally you create a new Component, make it active, and then create your sketches an bodies which will fall under the component.  I also added a Slider Joint so you can move the lid up to see what I did.  Model is attached.

Can't wait to check this out when I get home. You took it way farther than I expected. Thank you! On the snap being permanent, that's actually okay!

If you want to know what it is, I bought Ray Wu Christmas strand lights and my wife needs me to attach a c7/c9 bulb to each pixel but each pixel requires being snapped around the wire thst exists already. Once I get this, I have to print about 1000 of them. Wish me luck.

@jhackney1972Do you know how I would project the rectangle sketch called "INDENT" to be on both sides of the ring? That's what I'm really stuck trying to figure out to create a permanent snap together. I also have to make slits all the way down the opposite sides of the snaps. I made a few images and video to see if it helps explain what i'm trying to do.

Sorry I could not get back to you earlier, I had some previous engagements this morning and early afternoon.  Please see the video on how to duplicate the snap notch and catch and the cutout for the cable.  I think I understand your idea and I have placed the notches as you need them.  If not let me know.  Model is attached I work on.

Ok, so this seems to keep happening to me and I know its something really basic. I wanted to try replicating your exact notch method using the Base and when I try to draw the sketch, but for the life of me my cursor wont snap to the body to start the drawing. This is what had me trying to figure out projection because it wont ever snap to the body. In your video it looked so easy!

EDIT: Found this youtube video and it had me change a setting! For anyone else that find this post ever - go to your profile in top right, Preferences->Design, and check "Auto project edges on reference and I also checked Scale entire sketch at first dimension. As of today, I have everything checked except for "triangulate mesh polygons" at the bottom.
