I had a lot of trouble getting a little hump out of a cylindrical shape. With the Fillet tool, I was finally able to get a somewhat passable result. Since I need to project something onto the round surface, I need it to be smooth.
In order to project something I have to be in the sketch mode but every time I go into sketch mode, the Fillet action gets reversed, and I can't project onto it anymore because it's not smooth anymore.

Create a new sketch after the fillet position in the timeline.  You can project the old sketch articles and the new body shape, sort of amalgamating to what you need.

Editing sketch is always back tracking to when it was created.  Means you can’t project what doesn’t exist yet.

Might help…..
