Edit sketch of mirrored component

I have a component with external subcomponents that is mirrored around a sprue for injection moulding. Now my boss said to me, "Make the prongs on the mirrored component shorter."

How do I do that? I would need to access the sketches in the mirrored component.

If it wasn't for the pointy ends I could just have cut them to the desired length.

1. Have you even considered making a modification other than a sketch modification? 

2. Share a file with a specific example.

You will probably have to use some sort of technique that @g-andresen is suggesting since a mirrored component does not carry a separate sketch.  The original component carries the controlling sketch.
