DWG drawing from Autodesk to Fusion 360

I have followed the instructions on how to upload a dwg file from autodesk to fusion 360 but the drawing will not show even though it shows the name of the drawing in the tab on Fusion 360 (it thinks the drawing has uploaded  but nothing is showing).

Any guidance please much appreciated.

Can you share the DWG here? Fusion does not read all the entities a DWG can contain, do you know what's in the file? Also if the drawing is in drawing space Fusion will not be able to read it.

@poultonsDN5LR  - what type of license do you have?  I think DWG import might not be available for Personal licenses.

Hi

I would like to share the file with somebody so they can check please that an autocad dwg drawing can be uploaded to Fusion 360 as we can't seem to do it. How do I upload a file to this forum?

Hi

I attach a file that a student is trying to upload into Fusion 360 (originally drawn in Autodesk) but we can't seem to upload it.

Please can somebody try to see if it is possible.

Hi,

The file does not provide any content after uploading to Fusion.
The same can be seen in QCAD. Various layers appear, but without content.

It does open correctly in DWG TrueView but not in other non Autodesk software I have. I think the drawing might be in drawing space and I think only AutoCAD can read this information. You will need autocad to save the layout to model space before you can import into Fusion.

Do you have the original Autodesk Inventor *.ipt and *.iam files?

The students saved their work in Autodesk (inventor I think it was called) but we no longer have this software and switched to Fusion 360. It sounds like all of their drawings will have to be done again. Thanks for trying to help me out.

It was saved in Autodesk (inventor) and we don't have that anymore as we use Fusion 360. I think the drawings are lost now.

So sad for the students 😞

@poultonsDN5LR  Do you have the solid models (.ipt, .iam)these DWGs were created from? You can import these into fusion and would be more use than the DWGs as fusion's drawing workspace can not import DWG\DXF files. You would only be able to import as sketches in the design workspace.

Edit. Note, imported models from inventor would be dumb solids similar to importing a STP file.

My MDT crashed (old like me).  I cannot access MDT dwg files to move them (the drawings) from paper to modle space, and I cannot convert DWG to DXF, or do anything with the DWG from MDT.  So how do I get the solid into Fusion from MDT?
