Drawings - Additional Attributes & Parts List Table

Hi,

We're migrating from Onshape, and for the most part doing OK - it seems drawings in particular in Fusion 360 are proving a bit tricky.

I've read additional attributes in the title block (Part Number, Name, Mass etc) are coming - any update on when? Seems it's been on the drawing board for at least 3 years, probably longer.

The work around seems to be to use a Parts List, even if your drawing has only one part. Problem with this is it seems it's not possible to customise the text size or row height (apart from changing annotation text size). Is this right?

It also seems not possible to use a place-holder parts list on a drawing of a single component - it has to be the full assembly. Is that also correct?

Apologies if this repeats other posts - just trying to clarify our understanding.

Thanks

Nick

Hi Nick,

As you said, the properties like Part Number, Name, Mass etc are only available in parts list but those are not available as a custom attributes in the title block.

As a workaround, you can create the parts list even for single component. It is not mandatory to have part list on full assembly only.

At present, the text size in the parts list is controlled by Text height property in the document settings. But we are currently working on giving more control to adjust text heights for different objects in the drawings.

I hope this answers all of your queries, please let us know if you have more questions/suggestions.

Thanks

Hi @nickGX2SM

I'm just circling back to this, we implemented these additional attributes back in the May release, details are here: https://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/blog/may-2022-product-update-whats-new/#Drawings

I'd love to hear your thoughts around this. If you're up for it, here is a link to my calendar, please book a session with me, and we can chat via Zoom.

I can also show you some of the new tools that are coming soon.
