DRAWING TEMPLATES & TITLE BLOCKS - ARRRRHH!!!!!! AUTODESK WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!

I couldn't, find a way to copy an existing title block to a new drawing template, so I decide to start from scratch

Boy What a mess!

1) I have snapping ON Drawing lines on the grid seems to put line anywhere except where you want them!

2) There are NO BOUNDING boxes for text, so it's hard to align.

3) You cannot select multiple text items ( or other objects) and change, say font size all at once.

4) if you move an existing line, it either hides, jumps at you at an angle or won't stick to a grid point

5) The grid is not definable and as you zoom in the resolution changes, we just need a 1 mm grid ( or user definable)

6) generally the whole drawing of templates is a COMPLETE and UTTER MESS!

7) Objects in general are very hard to just simply select and move! its takes several clicks and jumps to grab hold of an object

😎 The MEASURE tool does NOT Work at all, no measurements are displayed !

9) The is no units displayed for the grid, so you are flying blind!

10 ) My apple numbers spreadsheet app does a much better job at drawing simple objects than fusion 360 does!

😎why can't we move objects by using the up,down, left and right keys?

Why can't you just make the editing of templates just like any of the thousands of simple graphic editing apps.

If you open a drawing with the template you want to save then do a Save As you get the option to save as a template.

As for your complaints about creating a new title block, couldn't agree more!

The sketch workspace in the 2d drawing workspace is the same, don't know why they didn't use the sketch solver from the design workspace. Trying to create any sort of sketch in the drawing workspace is very frustrating.

Take a look at this Blog article and video for an easier method of creating a drawing template in Fusion 360.

Hi John,

YES I saw that video in the link you provide

Bloody good tutorial!

I will try this out today.

I also watch many other videos on the title block editor and i noticed all of them were having similar troubles with the clunky tools in the title block editor.

How do we get autodesk to fix this?

regards

Hi John

I wont click on the accept as a solution button, because it's a work around, not a solution. If i mark it as a Accept as a solution" then i am worried that autodesk will ignore this problem and never fix it!

So no offence John, But i Do accept your comment as a very good "WORK AROUND" for now.

Thanks
