Dimensions way out

I'm very new to Fusion 360 (free copy as I'm retired).

I've opened several STL files that others have created for sharing. However I'm confused as when I add a dimension, I discover the drawing is roughly ten times bigger than the object proper???

The help files suggest changing the parameters, however I can't find them even when provided with a breadcrumb path.
For example, this file https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1002858 should have an inside measurement of 74.5mm (Seventy four point five millimetres) However the STL drawing shows it as 731.181mm (seven hundred and thirty one point one, eight one millimetres) I've found many other STL drawings with similar discrepancies in Fusion 360, what am I missing please?

Hi @Anonymous,

I can't scaling issue while inserting the stl mesh file in Fusion 360.

Below is the inserted stl file, when measured the inside hole distance was ~75mm.

I guess you are opening the stl file directly thats why the stl is not scaled properly.

STLs do not store unit information, so its always recommended to open the stl file from Insert>Insert mesh.
