Designing in Fusion, a very irritating thing that happens with assemblies

When designing in Fusion, I like to have everything on a separate file and link them to an assembly.  This is similar to the way other CAD systems are used.  But what happens occasionally is that a new sketch and or feature is created but instead of being on a part, the sketch and body goes into the main assembly file.  When this happens the only solution I can find is to back up in time and start over on the part.  Does this happen to anyone else?

Is there any way to lock the main assembly file to prevent this from accidentally happening?  Any other solution would be appreciated.

@joe.lacour You have to make sure that the file you want the sketch saved in is selected by activating that files constraint that you want the sketch saved under.

First step select file you want sketch inFirst step select file you want sketch in

Sketch now in this fileSketch now in this file

I think you misunderstood the question. The screenshot you posted do not include any linked designs 😉

There is no lock feature. You'll just have to pay attention to what you are doing. You'll get used to that with more practice.

I've been using CAD since Autocad 2.0 and Fusion for years so I have plenty practice.  But occasionally I get caught up in designing and it is all too easy to miss it.  This is something that should be addressed as it costs me time when I make a mistake.

In a design that only contains linked components I personally don't see how that is easy to miss.
This is the first time in 8 years on this forum that I've seen someone voice that request.

As such it is hardly a common request and unlikely to be "addressed" as a feature in Fusion 360.

It does not happen often, but when it does it is a pain too correct.  Well, if you can think of any way to always remember, that would be great.  Until then I'll just keep on designing.

That should have been to correct and not too correct.
