I'm trying to create a milled slot in a block of foam that will accept a complex 3-d shape. My hope is to move the body (Body19 in the linked model) into my foam block (Block) along the path (Install Path). The idea is that i am removing the minimal amount of foam to allow the shape to fit straight in (along the long horizontal leg of the path), then slide down (along the short vertical leg) and be supported by contact with the foam.

Is there a way to use Body 19 as a cutting tool to create a negative space defined by its movement along a path? My searches have not come up with anything. Any tips would be appreciated!

The function of sweeping a solid body along a path as a cutting tool is not supported at the present time in Fusion 360.  The sweeping of simple shapes as surfaces and then using them for cutting purposes is possible but your shape is a bit complex to do this with. This function is available in Autodesk Inventor.

Autodesk Inventor Professional (See Attached File).

Oops, I went the wrong way, back in a minute.

See Rev 1 Fusion file attached.
