Create Slice from a Ring

I need to create a slice from a ring using the Resolve Command.  Then extrude a rectangle from the inside face of slice that is 2.5 in along face and 4 in long and .25 inch high.  I created a cylinder with a 106 inch diameter around the z-axis and .25 inch high.  Then drilled a hole that is 102 inches in diameter to get the ring.  I keep on getting errors using the Resolve Command with Cut Option.  I'm trying to get a slice that is 20 inches around the ring (10.8757 degrees).

You refer to the "Resolve" command, I think you mean "Revolve" command.  I have attached a model with you specifications but I think you need to recalculate the angle to get 20 inches from the ring.  It also depends where you are measuring the 20 inches.  By the way, there are many ways to do this but if you use the Revolve command, do not select the Cut option, select instead the Intersect option under the Operation type. I added a check sketch to show the angle of the ring I cut out.

Thanks.  The length (angle) is not critical.  I now need to extrude a 2.5 inch rectangle from middle of slice with a length of 4 in along the inside face.  Should I rotate the slice before trying to extrude?

I really cannot answer your question because I cannot interpret you description of how it is oriented to the curved segment.  You say "along the inside surface", that would mean it is a curved rectangular shape, at least the way you describe it.  Can you make a hand sketch and post a picture of the orientation you need.  Generally, a sketch or model and be oriented to another body is any position.

It is not important that the end of the rectangle is curved or straight  The part would look like an arrow.  The part is a bracket that gets attached to a 53 radius object and the rectangles is used as a support of an existing object that goes across the diameter of the circle.  The object going across the diameter broke away from the curved object due to expansion and contraction along the diameter.  The original design the material used for the part was too brittle to handle the expansion and contraction and after years of use broke.  I just want to glue the new part to the existing curved part.  Let the rectangle support the old diameter part.  I do not plan on gluing the diameter part so it can slide back and forth.   I want to make the part with a 3D printer.  I thought about cutting a piece of glass or plexiglass but that would be much harder than using 3D printer.  The original material is plastic and plan on using a Plastic Welder to attach new bracket to original material.

I have a old 72 gallon fish tank with a bow front (53 inch radius).  The is a plastic bracket u-channel bracket that fits over the top of the fish tank that holds the cover which is put in place with silicon.  The water pressure applies pressure from front to back and as water is added and evaporated the pressure changes which over time cracks the plastic support.  It has happened to lots of people from what I found on the web.  There is a 3/4 inch lip on the bottom side of the u-channel part that I can attach my new bracket.  See pictures.  I plan to use C-Brackets to hold part in place while it dries.  The first picture is without the glass top.  The last picture is with the two glass parts that fit into the U-channel top bracket.
