Create Saddle for Dome Intersecting Cylinder

Hello,

I am trying to create a flared saddle at the base of a cylindrical dome which intersects another cylinder. The flare needs to result in a circular intersection when viewed from above. Can anyone propose how to go about this. I have attached a screenshot of the project bodies as well as a reference photograph of what I am trying to replicate. Any help would be appreciated.

Short answer, I would

cut the yellow body just below the bottom banding. Hide / remove the lower section.

Extrude cut the top view hole in the pink body at correct diameter.

Surface > Loft select the bottom face of the yellow, and the edge of the hole in the pink, set both selections to Tangent.

Will give you a smooth transitional curve ring, without the thickened lip at the pink body.

If suitable all done,   You can decide how to make the 3 bodies back into one.  I would use Boundary fill after the lip,

if you want the fading lip as well, it’s more complicated, needs your input for sizes etc.

Might help….

Examples of this very design have been posted here in the past.

I search (perhaps in the Design area of the Fusion forum) might turn up prior discussions.

You didn’t incorporate the lip shape in the rails?

Last sketch, both lower spline handles vertical, so easy.
