Crashing on "Get Latest" for Larger Models

Standard Section.pngI am having an issue in which my non-App Store Fusion 360 for Mac crashes every time I try to "Get Latest" for components in some of my larger files.

I have opened the project on a collaborator's Windows PC and experienced the same crash on "Get Latest," so I do not believe it is a hardware-related issue.

Welcome to the Fusion Community!

Do you happen to have a lot of red/yellow errors or warnings in the timeline of the components that are x-referenced? Often these can be the cause of this type of issue in Fusion.

One test you can run is to switch off the timeline in the x-referenced component. If the update is then successful, then you know there is an issue with the timeline in the x-referenced design. You can always promote a previous version of the design to bring the timeline back in the x-referenced component after you run the test.

I hope that helps.

Thank you for the help! There are no errors in the timelines of any component involved in this file. The only errors are in the browser of the file that contains them all. The program crashes when I try to turn off the timeline as well.

Can you share the Fusion Design with me? Feel free to send it to me via private message in the forum if you prefer to keep the design private.

See below article for how to create a share link.

Sent. I am not sure if sharing that link gives you access to the entire project or just the one file. Please let me know if you need anything else.

In Basic Block 1, I performed a Compute All and uncovered a warning with a slider joint. I recreated the Joint and saved Basic Block. Next, I opened up "Normal Section" and did a compute all and I was able to recreate the crash. I've tested on both MacOS and Windows at this point and it seems pretty consistent. I've reported this issue to development FUS-37487. I will circle back as soon as I hear back from them.

The only thing that jumps out to me a a little different is how often you're using the ground command. Other than that, everything seems fairly clean in the timeline. I'll let you know what I find out. Thank you for reporting this!

I wanted to note that I was having crashing issues on a more complex assembly today and this old post helped me resolve it. Had some errors in the timeline on a part within the assembly where I had deleted a part leaving a rigid group without all its components. Fixing the yellow highlighted problems resolved the crashing.

Thank you
