Good afternoon!
I am having the same issue. Trying to open the appearance panel causes infinite hanging. It happens in the modeling environment when I press A and in the rendering environment when I click on the appearance tab. Need to force close the program but my system doesn't seem to be affected in any other way. Started happening after restarting for the last update.

Hi all,

I am sorry to hear about the issue. We are currently working on the issue where the non-ASCII characters in Windows user name will crash Fusion on launching Appearance UI. This is a regression we introduced in our Dec 5th 2017 update. (FUS-37406)

If that seems to be the cause of the issue for you, could you try creating a new Windows account without using special characters to see if that helps?

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Hi ,

I'm not using any special characters in my windows username as well. And as wailoon_lee pointed out even after changing the username the problem still persist.

Hi @Anonymous,

I am sorry to hear that the issue still persists. Could you attach the diagnostic log files and share your system information? Also, could you submit a crash report if you haven't done so yet?

Hello!
I am having the same issue, Fusion crashes when opening appearances after new update. I've tried on my educational laptop, as well as my private desktop. Adding my data in an effort to try and help out.

Thanks @masa.minohara for your efforts here.

Everyone else, thanks for reporting. I am not finding any CER reports for any of your email addresses, but perhaps I'm getting bad search results from our CER database. So I have to ask a couple questions.

Are you using Mac or Windows?

Do you see this CER dialog when you crash?

Please let me know and sorry for the inconvenience. I'm only asking for more information to ensure we fix this problem completely.

Having the same issue here. Fusion crashes when using APPEARANCE. I am not using any special characters, neither my Autodesk user name nor my windows name.
Hope this issue can be resolved very quickly.

Hi Phil,

Unfortunately there is no CER generated by Fusion 360, it just quits thats all. After that you have to manually re open the application. It always happens when you want to change the appearance or physical material. The material/apperance dialog will not show at all, and the application will quit without any (error)message or CER. For myself i'm uisng windows, and no problems before the 5 Dec update was applied.

Hi,

Sorry all for not communicating sooner.

The crash we think is related to Windows user names and prevents the Appearance dialog from appearing. This is when the crash happens.

Please confirm the following:

If you are in Fusion and press the A key (hotkey for appearances) Fusion crashes. You have no chance to apply appearances at all.

If you are crashing by dragging appearances to a body, please let me know.

Regarding the user name issue, the fix should be released very early next week, barring any foreseen complications. I have tested both the broken and fixed build and have confidence in the fix, provided it's exactly what you are seeing.

So again, please let us know if you are crashing by interacting with Appearances, rather than just crashing when you start Appearances. A video would help explain what you are seeing.

Thanks,
