Could Not import Document - Rendering

Hey : )

So, I've been trying to save a Render, but when I try to render locally, then "Capture" the shot, I get an error on my Mac. "Could Not import Document....( Name of doc) Does Not exist."

I'm very sure it exists... because I just rendered it. : ) Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi @bmxjeff

Thanks for posting!  It certainly seems like the document should exist...

I was, unfortunately, unable to recreate this issue on my end. I have shown the processes I used in the screencast below - does this differ from your workflow? If so, please create a screencast illustrating the behavior you are experiencing and we will continue troubleshooting.

It may also help us look into this issue to have a look at your diagnostic log files.

Please let me know if you have any questions - I am happy to help!

Edit: Apologies, I had started a reply before Paul, but then got distracted and posted without checking. My bad!

Hey @bmxjeff,

Thanks for reporting it. I've never seen that error message before so we'll have to work together to get a little more information here. First, there's 3 ways to render:

1 - Cloud Render

2 - Local Render

3 - In Canvas Render

Just to make sure, are you talking about In-Canvas rendering and then attempting to "Capture Image? as seen here?

Or are you Local Rendering and then trying to Download the image like this?

Also, if you could include a Screencast and/or the Fusion file, it would make it easier for us to reproduce this.

Thanks!

Paul,

Thanks for looking into this. It worked great on the PC this morning. : )  But it didn't work on my Macbook last night. I tried Online and Off-Line modes. I didn't try the Cloud rendering. Just the Canvas Save option. I'm pretty savoy on the rendering. You guys have some of my renders on your Fusion 360  home page : )

Honestly, I just wanted to see if it was a problem other people were experiencing. Maybe it had to do with me going On-line and off line a couple of time before I tried to Save the Canvas. I was on the move, and was connecting to my phones Hot Spot on and off.

Thanks, I'll dig into it when I get in front of my Mac again.

Hey Guys,

Here isa screen shot of the error. There is no problem on the PC, but when I try to save a Screen Capture from Render or Model, I get an error. I also got an error when I tried "Exporting" the model to see if I could save any file to the drive. I saved 1 file as an export but the other 5 tries failed with the same error. I can do a Screen Cast if you like, or give you access to the Project.

Thanks!

Hey @bmxjeff,

Sorry to hear you're still having this issue. Since I haven't seen this before, the next step is going to see if I can recreate it on my computer (a mac) using your files. It would be great if you could share the project with my account: lucas dot prokopiak @ autodesk dot com. If you could record a quick screencast as well, that would be helpful so I can try to replicate the same workflow on my end.

Thanks,

Lucas

Hi @bmxjeff

Thanks for the response! I found that I could recreate the rendering error message by attempting to save the screen capture directly to my Mac HD. Please try changing the save location to your Downloads folder and let me know if that allows you to save the screen captures.

As for the issues with exporting the STEP file, I was unable to reproduce. If I tried to export directly to the Mac HD I received an error that the folder does not exist, but not the same message shown in your screenshot. Is this happening with every file you export in STEP format on the Mac, or just this particular design? If you'd like to share the design I am happy to have a look! It may also help us to have a look at your log files - which you can gather using this procedure.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

EDIT: haha @lucasproko, my bad!

That was it! The save location. It showed the "Desktop" and the correct path, but when I "jogged" the location back to desktop, it worked. I've never needed to changed the save to: location, because I always work on the render once it's saved, so I didn't even think to mess with it.

Thanks guys!
