Copy model with drawings

Hi, I'm trying to copy a model with its drawings. The copying process goes without problems, but somehow the new drawing stays referenced to the model it is copied from.  It seems that I can't do anything about it.

In the screenshot above you can see that, according to Fusion, the drawing uses the new model.

In the next screenshot, you can see that the model in the new drawing is version 8 meaning it is still referenced to the model it is copied from

Did you copy the 2d drawing or the part design? If you copy the part you should get an option to make a copy of the 2d drawing as well.

I wonder if copying to the same folder caused a problem. I just did a quick test copying a design to a new folder and it worked correctly. New design is V1 and drawing only has version 1 to choose from.

Hi Mark. I copy the part and include drawing just like you and also tried to copy it to a new folder, it makes no difference.

@Phil.E Any idea what might be wrong here or who would be best to tag in?

Hi @HughesTooling, Thank you for reaching out.

My team has analysed the jobs for the 3 copy requests initiated by you and observed that the copy of the design and drawing was successful in all the three attempts (this includes copy in same & new folder).

I tried these steps and was not able to land in the problem of drawing being associated with source design. I suspect the issue you are observing is caused due to existing local cache. I am looking for the ways to reproduce this situation.

In the meantime, could you please try clearing the user cache and retry the copy operation in the same folder?

Here's a guide to clear user cache - https://help.autodesk.com/view/fusion360/ENU/?caas=caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-clear-local...

@shinderu Did you address your reply to the wrong person? @christofJWXPZ Was the one having problems with the copied drawing still referencing the original design, not me.

Hi @HughesTooling  Thanks for notifying. Indeed the message was meant for @christofJWXPZ.

@christofJWXPZ  Could you please check if clearing cache works as mentioned in the above message?

Hi. I have the same issue, but it used to work for me. I did delete my local cache and still have the same result. I also tried to save the copy to a diffrent project folder without any success.

I am also using the manage extension, does this maybe interfer? @christofJWXPZ are you also using the manage extension? -> i checked that aswell, for me it also does not work, even if the part was not assigned to the manage extension.

In the last picture you can see, that even though that new 3D file is referenced in the file browser, the actual drawing references the original file.

I've cleared the cache, doesn't help. I had a work around by generate a share link of the drawing and then copy the link in my web browser. There I choose download fusion archive and mail the file to myself. Then I receive a link to download the drawing with de 3D model. I can then upload this file in Fusion and got a fresh drawing with attached 3D model that I can rename and is not referring to the drawing/model it is copied from. But.....lately this also doesn't work anymore since all the features will be messed up after copying. I can't change the new created 3D model anymore whiteout getting my whole model messed up.
This situation is very annoying since I'm dependent to Fusion for creating my drawings.

@tillman.boenisch No I don't use manage extensions. But I'm sort of glad that I'm not the only one with this problem. Hopefully there will be a solution, I like fusion for it's versatilely, but not be able to copy a drawing and it's model is really a big problem for me.

@christofJWXPZ Thanks for trying out the cache cleanup. I understand the intensity of the problem and trying out ways to come back with a quick solution.

Could you please help me with the diagnostic logs generated right after the Copy with Drawings workflow is performed ?

It would help if we can jump over a quick call to fix this problem for you.

My email id - rutuja.shinde@autodesk.com

You can send out the log files and a suitable time to meet over a call.

Here's the documentation link - How to collect the Diagnostic Log Files for Fusion

Hi @christofJWXPZ Could you please confirm if the issue is resolved for you?

If you are still facing the problem, you can share the diagnostic logs and a quick call to fix it on your machine can be arranged as per your availability.

Thanks,
