Copies of template keep breaking

I have spent hours creating a drawing template for our company. The template has assembly, storyboard, component, and sheet metal placeholder views that preview as a generic 3-component assembly.

In the title block, I left a space for the client's logo and name, so I want to make a copy of this generic template, add a client's logo to the title block and then I have a nice template to use for all their drawings.

I copied the template, renamed the copy, added the logo and name to the title block, and saved a version. All looked fine, but then I closed the template and re-opened it a few minutes later. Now as soon as I switch pages from whatever opened first to another sheet, all the placeholder views are replaced with red squares. This happens for all the views except for the sheet metal flat pattern.

I've tried a few things, but every time the same result. Any ideas what's going wrong?

Hi @Anonymous

Can you let us know about following :-

1. Did you used Title block, which is imported as dwg?

2. you copied template to another folder or another project?

3. If you try complete workflow without image insert i.e Copy Template --> Open Template --> Close & reopen --> switch sheet, than also placeholder views are disappearing?

One more thing, it would helpful for us if you can share the template with us.

1. I made the Title Block "from existing", from the default ANSI_TITLEBLOCK. I think I made a block from that default, then another one from the first one I made. As soon as I started editing, I deleted everything, so it was basically from scratch within Fusion

2. To another folder within the same project, but I also tested copying to the same folder.

3. Just tested. TLDR, I couldn't reproduce the problem by doing the following.

  • I copied to the same folder, renamed to append "test" to the end of the name, opened the template, clicked through to view all four sheets, then back to the first sheet, saved and closed.
  • Opened again, it showed sheet 1. Clicked through all 4 sheets and back to 1 with no issues.
  • Opened "Edit Title Block" and Finished with no changes, cycled sheets again, no issues.
  • Opened "Edit Title Block", inserted a PNG image without scaling or positioning, Finished. Cycled sheets with no issues, saved, closed.
  • Reopened, cycled views. No Issues. Went through image insertion again, accidentally entered another PNG. Used ctrl+z to undo back out of the title block. Still no issues.
  • Went back into Title Block and inserted a JPG file (the squiggle). Interestingly, when inserting PNGs the rectangle preview outline moves smoothly with the mouse. With JPGs it disappears when I move the mouse and reappears whenever I zoom in or out a tick. Cycled through sheets, saved, closed.

Since reporting, the original template I was trying to copy had it's views fail too. So I just manually recreated all 4 sheets and deleted the old sheets. Perhaps there was some unknowable issue lurking in the file that that purge fixed? I don't know, but it's hard to trust Fusion anymore without knowing the cause.

Here's the public link. The Export option is greyed out so I don't know another way to share it besides this link.

Hi @Anonymous

We have looked in the file which you shared but we are unable to reproduce the issue.

Are you still facing the issue? if yes than can you share screencast when facing the issue.

one more thing, did you created the main template (without logo) from the scratch or used existing template?
