Copied files losing associativity with bodies copied using Insert Derive.

I wanted to move a set of files (the individual parts, as well as the file that contains the assembly of those parts)--the intent being to actually Move the files, but I am always cautious and typically copy and paste files, rather than go the Cut and Paste method--just in case something goes wrong, I'd still have the original files.

At any rate, I copy/pasted some files, including an assembly, and the copied file did not point to the files copied, but referred back to the original files.

Is there a way to "re-direct" the Insert-Derived body to the correct location? I did see the option to select which version,  but not an option to choose the file, when the part was referencing the wrong file altogether....

(*my apologies; the nature of this problem seems to be difficult to describe..!)

Thanks,

-Joey

Hi @Ironsharpmachining ,

If you have 2 files A & B

Where B is derived inside A (A has a reference to B)

In this case, if you do a copy of A as A_Copy, then still A_Copy will be referencing to B

So, its not possible to copy the referenced files with A

If you want to do a copy process, then export the files as *.f3z and import the same to the new project\folder location.

When you do a export and import, version history will be lost.

Let me know if you are looking for same or something different.
