Converting a mesh to a smooth(curved) body

Hallo, I'm trying to make the included file of the Portal turret smoother with more polygons but I keep getting the "Error: Cannot remesh mesh body or face groups. Input selection of triangles may be disjoint, e.g. subareas of the selection not sharing an edge. Adjusting and sanitizing the input selection can help.". Does anyone know how to fix this or another way to turn it into a smooth solid?

Without checking the file.  There is a Mesh workspace converter set of options, but that is all relative, complex organic shapes are not successful.

Reengineer with the file as a guide is the common workflow, or converting to smooth solid in other software.

Might help....

First, this model was likely developed using a polygon/Sub-D modeling software. Blender, Maya, 3DS Max etc.

On export from that software I was triangulated.

Fusion 360 is not the right software to re-create this. Blender, for example is a much better tool for this, but it will require some experience with polygon and Sub-D modeling and is also somewhat laborious.

The end result is far superior than what can be achieved in Fusion 360.

Remeshing an already low-poly model is unlikely to result in desirable geometry.

Just spent hours searching for a higher poly model. It was faster than making this work
