Control units when importing step files

I include several external step files in my design. There are no issues with the import function as such. However some of the components show up multiplied with 25.4 and others show up correctly in my design using default unit mm. I haven't found any way to control that.

I saw one suggestion that I should edit the UNIT in the step-file in a text editor but I screwed up the file. Other suggestions in the forum haven't worked for me either.

An import fuction that can control the scale on import would be highly appreciated.

Hi @Anonymous,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Fusion community! I'm sorry to hear about this issue!

It sounds like Fusion is just reading the wrong units when you are importing those step files. I note that 1 in = 25.4 mm. When this happens in your designs, could you try using the scale command? It can be found under "Modify > Scale". Once the command is enabled, simply select the entity that needs scaling in your design, and enter the conversion factor. For the step files that are appearing too large, the conversion factor would be "1/25.4".

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns - I am always happy to lend a hand!

Cheers,

Mike Tessier

Thanks a lot! Your proposal works fine for me.

I'm so grateful that you could help. I have been reading a lot in the support pages without finding this one. The solution was very obvious (when you know how to do it).
