Constant crashes when trying to export a part from assembly

I'm getting CONSTANT crashes when trying to export a component (created in context of an assembly) in any way. Have tried export (download to computer), export part to project folder, save copy as to project folder, all with the same result. Have tried uninstalling, cleaning with Fusion 360 Cleaner utility and reinstalling with no change. Have tried copying whole assembly (works fine) and deleting every other component in the assembly so I can export this one particular component. Other components in the assembly seem to be able to be exported fine so it's something to do with this particular component. Can't upload assembly for legal reasons, but after wasting two days on this I'm at the end of my tether.

Hi,

Sorry to hear of such troubles. From your crash report comments I can tell you've tried a lot of paths to work around this.

The problem is from a fillet in the part you are trying to export. Without the design it's harder to debug, so this advice might not work, but is worth a shot.

  • First try deleting the fillet(s) on this part. If you can do that and export it, you could try replacing the fillets and exporting it.
  • Alternately, try suppressing the fillet(s).

Thanks Phil - suppressing that allowed me to at least download it and re-upload it, although unsuppressing the feature once re-uploaded has caused crashes again...

Is it possible to delete the fillet, and then replace it?

Found the problem, it was filleting the ends of a 100deg revolved cut feature using a circular segment profile, at very close to the radius of said circular edge (ie to model what would actually happen if you used a ball end mill to just trace a path around that surface); seems that there is some approximation algorithm causing it to crash if the fillet radius was too close to the actual cut radius. Deleted/recreated with a slight change to the dimension and now it's stable.

Glad to hear it.

I should have asked for this earlier. Can you open and export an older version of the design with that fillet suppressed? I'm sure we'd be able to debug that crash using your data.

Hello,

I am very sorry for the delay in my response to this.

To be able to recreate the issue you are seeing, we would need the model. However, if there was any way you could isolate the component and send me that, that would be most appreciated .

Hopefully i may be able to see the issue and then send this to the development team to try and fix.
