Confusion with Fusion 360

I have an Educational License for F360, as I am a hobbyist and build old wooden ships from scratch for which I have to loft plans from drawings. I have to redraw the drawings to do the lofting.

I have done the beginners tutorials, made notes, etc.

I have followed the instructions on how to start a new project and have uploaded the sheer plans of the boat. My problem is that I cannot insert the image into the workspace. Please explain to me how this is done. I have followed the tutorial step by step but to no avail.

Is F360 the right product for what I want to do I should I rather make use of AutoCAD to do this. If so, would I have to reapply for an Educational license for AutoCAD.

Thanks in advance for any and all advice to get me out of my predicament.

Try Zooming in to the Origin, after selecting the file, they normally come in very small, you may be able to scale it out with the manipulator, then Calibrate.

Might help....
