Confusing active tab background color - bug or bad design?

I've been having issues with confusing coloring of the open file tabs. The inactive tab has the same color as the tool ribbon, making me think it is the active tab and causing me to click on the real active tab when I want to switch between open files. It's easier to explain with an image: Fusion360_tabs_color_scheme.pngIs this a bug on my installation of Fusion 360, or is it just bad GUI design?

Hi @opM7REZ, there seem to be some graphical glitches with your installation of Fusion 360. Here is what it ought to look like - more in line with what you are expecting:

In addition to discoloration, I also notice outlines for the Tab's Close and New Tab buttons.

Could you please share more information about your device configuration? Particularly OS, OS locale, and GPU - a DXdiag file will also suffice.

Thanks @lance.carocci for the quick response. I attached the DxDiag file.

Thanks for the report @opM7REZ,

Could you please answer a few more questions about the device?

  1. I noticed your device is set to English, but from the model number your device may have originated from Denmark - is this correct?
  2. Do you have any other language or input packs installed on the device? Was the OS initially installed in English, or was the English pack added after?
  3. Has Fusion always looked this way since first install, or is this recent behavior?
  4. Is the behavior improved or changed in any way if you only have an English language pack installed?
    • These can safely be removed and re-added from Windows' system settings - a device restart or Windows relog may be required to take effect
  5. Is the behavior improved or changed if you change Windows DPI scaling to 100% instead of 125%?
    • You may need to restart Windows for this to reflect in the application

Thanks for your patience while we investigate this behavior.

Hello,

  1. Correct
  2. I had English (United States) and English (Denmark). The OS was initially installed with English (Denmark).
  3. I'm not sure. My guess is that it did not look like this until I had to uninstall it because of issues with other Autodesk products (ODIS issues).
  4. I tried removing English (Denmark) and restarting, no improvement
  5. The 125% is on a side screen, and I have tried putting it to 100% and restarting, no improvement.

Thank you @opM7REZ! I am still investigating this internally, so I do not have any tips for immediate relief, but will let you know when we have addressed this.

Hi @opM7REZ - not yet. This has been challenging to reproduce internally, but is still under investigation. If nothing else, I am also currently looking at some framework updates for early next year that I am hoping might address this indirectly, but if I can find some relief for you sooner, I will let you know. Thank you for your patience!

Hi @lance.carocci ,

On top of the previously mentioned issues, for a while now, I have been experiencing also tearing and glitching when orbiting an assembly. It is hard to show as when I make a screen capture, the captured video does not show the same glitches as I see when recording it.  What could be causing this?

I'm sorry you're still dealing with the original issue! I have not forgotten about it, but it has been difficult to reproduce in a debugger in order to address.

Is the screen tearing specifically in the modeling canvas? In the May and July releases we have made steps to enable high DPI graphics scaling on the Windows client, and the biggest performance impact has been the modeling canvas when viewing complex models at >4k resolution. We have some options to reduce visual fidelity or to merely cap graphics quality while navigating the camera - those might help for these scenarios.

The screen tearing is less of an issue nowadays, but I found another part of the GUI where the background colors are wrong - the animation timeline. Basically, the duration of the different elements is completely missing the background, and I have to guess where each event starts and ends (or double click to see the start and end time).
