components timelines including other timelines?!?!

hi community, first of all i'm still a noob at fusion 360 so apologies for any crude terminology or explaining.

so basically I have a project made of 3 main components which are all named "Drum" and then a number, since each component is similar i am constantly switching between which one to look at to copy designs. However, for some reason Drum 2 contains the time line of "Drum 3" component and "Drum 1" contains both Drum 2 and 3's timelines, super annoying.

It makes it soo confusing and takes longer to pinpoint steps when other timelines are stacked into 1 or more components. I wouldn't know if its a glitch or a mistake of mine and i bet you guys could fix it in 2 seconds. I made a quick video and attached it here to hopefully show what my problem is clearer. ideally id like each components timeline to ONLY be that exact components steps. Thanks.

Cannot really tell but it looks like you have assemblies for each of your drums.  Please attach your model so the forum users can troubleshoot your issue.  If you do not know how, open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save to your hard drive.  Then use the Attachments section of a forum post to attach the exported model.

I don't know why, but I think this is why, (opinion)

Copy Paste a component, will retain the link to the original.

Make New Component, instead of your method, will keep timelines as individual timelines,

you have asked for the conglomerate Timeline, note colour cycling links.

Might help,,,,,,

But how do i solve this situation? I still don't really know what the coloures mean. By the way (incase this info helps) many of the sketches from Drum 1 have been copy and pasted to Drum 2 and 3 during the making, was this wrong?

Colours - If you use the colour system, each component, has a different colour assigned to the timeline icons, and their articles visible in the window, you will see that the purple is related to the top level component.  All your other components, are actually sub components, inside the top level, and should be stand alone, separate components for your design intent / complaint.

Make new component, instead of Cut Paste process that you have done.

The fix from here - quicker to start over.  Copy the sketches from this file into the correct component of the new file, into the correctly activated component.

Copy / Pasting Sketches - why?  They are reusable.  I have not examined the current file to see what you are making, didn’t get that far into it, due to the timeline question / problems, can check out the file for this part of the question later today.

Might help....

Having gone through the file now,

There are 3 versions of the drum, and a cutter, so far.

Two components, re used as required.

I would make the long drum, copy / Paste New twice, and shorten the other two to length.

Make one cutter, and re use it

All said, without knowing the design intent.
