Components and Bodies

I have a very simple question. I have a design I am working on. In this design I have a SINGLE component that is made up of two bodies. This was a result of inserting a previous design into my current design. I need to turn this single component into 2 separate components or 2 separate bodies. How do I do this?

I do that like this: make a copy of the the file with the 2 bodies, give it a different name. In the first file go to the beginning of the tree and work through the sketches keeping what is needed for that body progress through the solids

until you have the single body. Right click the body to make the component and save. Do the same on copied file to get the other component. Now you will have the two components separated each as its own file.

There are a couple routes you can take to accomplish this.  Attach your model and a accurate description of the component you want to break up.  You also gave a choice of the new entities, bodies or components, which do you really want.  If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.
