Component Properties Don't Propagate

I designed an model car in three components (body, front wheels, back axle).

My workflow:

Import hardware from McMaster

Build three assemblies (front wheels, back axle, and body)

Import front wheels and back axle into the body design and integrate

Try to make a BOM table in a drawing, see that I have no part number, descriptions, or material values.

Realize I didn't establish any properties for the McMaster parts back in step one

Go back and do that for each part.

Save and update the McMaster part, the assembly files, and the integrated design.

Try to update the BOM table.

Fail.

The material value propagated from the hardware file, through the subassembly, to the integrated part, but the part number and descriptions didn't.

Should I modify my workflow?

Is there a thing I'm not clicking?  I've diligently searched for all the yellow triangles I could find and clicked them.  And saved.

Is this a not-yet-complete feature?  The final assembly lets me select which version of the part I want to use in the design.  And selecting the version with the updated properties doesn't fill in the BOM properly.

Thanks!
