Clicks not working in latest version

I've never encountered this issue before this latest version of Fusion360.

The program is not registering the first click I make. For example, I'll click on "Create Sketch" and instead of selecting it, it acts as if its a click-and-drag as I move my mouse away and will suddenly "select" whatever happens to be under my mouse when it stops registering as a click.

If I want the click to work, I need to click on "Create Sketch". Keep my mouse there and click AGAIN. Only after this second click does it select "Create Sketch" and start a sketch.

This isn't only limited to "Create Sketch". It's for ANYTHING that I try and click on -- 80% of the time. So I just have to remember to click twice -- sometimes. This is making modeling extremely difficult and frustrating. Anyone else having this bug with the latest release?

I've attached a screencast. You can see how the clicks don't register (the "Create Sketch" doesn't turn blue after the first click). You can also see the havoc this is causing -- I even unintentionally removed the "Line" command button from the toolbar because it clicked-and-dragged right off.

Hello @Anonymous, @kinsleymark,

thanks for trying the Native Pad app! I would like to ask for some more hardware specifications to allow our development team to reproduce the issue, in particular:

  • The OS version,
  • Info on the pointing devices you tested it with (Is the trackpad wireless or built-in? Is the mouse wireless/wired?)

Is the behavior the same for both the mouse and the trackpad?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Pawel,

My Laptop / Mac Pro OS is - macOS High Sierra Version 10.13.6 (17G65)

I have tested with two different types of Logitech mice. One wired, one wireless. Have tried both on a Mac Pro and a Macbook Pro that are both having the same issue. On the Macbook Pro, the issue persists with the trackpad.

I'm using the latest version of High Sierra. (10.13.6 [17G65]) on a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)

I've encountered the issue with the MacBook Pro trackpad as well as a wireless mouse.

With all the mouse/trackpad/input issues Fusion360 has with MacOS (This new click issue as well as the still un-solved multitouch controller crash bug https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-support/fusion-360-mac-trackpad-problem/m-p/7993112/highli...), I'm considering getting a dedicated PC workstation just for Fusion. It just hinders my productivity too much to use Fusion with a Mac right now. Not worth the frustration it causes.

Just to chime in separately from my other post that I'm seeing this too.  Here are the details of my experience (from my other post)

"I'm working on a pretty big model (with complex surfaces) and my mouse clicks are very unreliable.  Sometimes I have to click twice to get a selection to work, sometimes it clicks on its own.  Its becoming very difficult to work with.  I've tried multiple mice (wired), restarts, and reboots to no avail, and it doesn't happen in any other apps.  It seems to do better after a restart of the program, but doesn't last long.  It also doesn't seem to happen during a screen-cast recording, or when I'm running simple models (I think)"

Some more info that may help:

I just spent two hours on a completely different model without a single "click issue".

This surprised me because I was doing some minor but complex surfaces (and even crashed Fusion a couple times). But the "click issue" didn't show up at all.

This model consisted entirely of modeled features from scratch. The other model (the one that keeps having "click issues") was a combination of imported .STEP file surfaces that I started to direct edit and model around (deleting faces, adding lofts, etc).

Very interesting, good insight! I was suspicious of this. I have many imported SAT parts and lots of lofted, swept, filleted surfaces in the model I’m having difficulty with as well.

I have lofts in my model that Fusion struggles with sometimes, but they are not from STEP files.  My surface file is imported as a linked Fusion 360 file however.   I can try breaking the link to see if that helps.

If you are using a 3D Connexion Device, you might try without it unplugged.

If that "fixes" the issue then run the Calibrate on the device.  (I do this each morning.)

DUDE! That worked for me... it also fixed a right click problem I was having where id right click and the menu would show but quickly disappear.  Thanks!

Using a 3D Con. Cad Mouse

Actually... I spoke too soon. 😕 . seemed to fix it but nope.

Hello @Anonymous, @kinsleymark@jaharley,

Thanks for all the valuable info! If I understand correctly, the issue only persists while working on models with imported *.STEP or *.SAT parts for macOS High Sierra 10.13.6.

Can you reproduce it with the design history being captured?

I'll forward the info to our development team and get back to you as soon as I have any updates. Thanks for your patience! I am attaching the link to the Jonah's earlier post.

Hi Pawel,

No - I am seeing this issue in a model with no STEP imports.  I do have linked fusion files, however.

I was able to get a screencast to show the issue, which I'll attach below.  If you watch carefully it takes two mouse clicks to get the concentric constraint to turn blue, but the other ones turn blue on the first click.

Thanks,
Jonah

I too am having this issue. It is very frustrating as it is not predictable how many clicks it will take to select something. In addition, it is extremely frustrating as well when it registers a long click and does something completely unpredictable.

I just started a completely new design from scratch to replicate the issue, and the click issue was there from the jump. It did not require any STEP / SAT files or surfaces to be generated for the click issue to begin. This is also after a fresh restart and boot of Fusion.

Just to confuse things more:

I just spent the past 2 hours working on the exact same model as before (the one with the imported .STEP file and direct editing that had all the "click issues"). This time, I had not a single "click issue"! As far as I know, nothing changed. I probably did a bit less surface editing (and had fewer failed surface creation errors), but other than that, nothing was different from previous times.

Hi Pawel, I'm on an early 2015 Macbook Pro (13"), running High Sierra 10.13.6.  Let me know if there are other hardware details of interest.  - Jonah

Hi Pawel,

I just wanted to chime back in and say the latest update seems to have cleared this up completely. Not sure about everyone else.. but thank you for squashing it!

Hello @Anonymous,

thanks a lot for the update! I wanted to follow up with the other users who experienced this behavior: @kinsleymark@jaharley, @Anonymous, @TulsterJustin. Did the latest update clear it up for you as well?

Thanks in advance!
