Cant keep parameter window open

Anonymous
Not applicable

I can not find anything that will let me keep the Parameters window open while I am sketching. I would like to have this window open so I can add and edit parameters and reference them when dimensioning. It seems any time any other tool is activated the window just closes, and I have to reopen it too frequently.

Hi,

This is a known behaviour but not an error.

Hi,

Is there a way to keep the windows open though a add-on or modification?

Hi,

Although I have been following this question for some time, I do not know of any such solution.

For me it is certainly an error, perhaps not in execution but in design.  If the parameter window could be on top then it would  be possible to just drag and drop parameters into a dimension, so much quicker and less error prone, particularly when a design has many parameters

It would be extremely helpful to be at least able to view the parameters while sketching!

I think it is time that the whole thing be finally reworked.

  • You should be able to pin it like any other toolbar or palette.
  • The whole /1 to get unit-less dimensions (by ADs own admission) is poorly thought out and cumbersome.
  • Autocomplete is broken for derived parameters
  • Parameters can't be selected as values for other Parameters on initial setup (autocomplete or click causes a beep)
  • On initial setup many maths functions are broken. An initial value has to be set and then edited with the equation.

I am sure there are other issues, but that is a start. At least we did get derived parameters, even if the implementation was the bare minimum to get it deployed and took 5 years 😉

In my opinion (that may matter to nobody but me) the whole parameter interface and feature set feels half-assed or at best placeholder for a never finished interface and that is a shame for a software that is built around 'parametric' modeling....

Couldn't agree more. Come on Fusion team, get it sorted!

I agree. Parameters need work. At least let the window stay open all the time! Better organization after that.

I resorted to using windows snipping tool to grab an image while it's open and then use windows power tools to make the snip window always on top.  Not a good solution but it's just too needful to have parameters visible for reference.

I would like the parameters window to be NON-MODAL (remain open) as well. Perhaps if the issue were auto-updating parameters they could add an Apply button (next to the OK button as per professional windows design practices.)

I do sort of the same. I take a screenshot of the parameter window and show it on my second monitor. But every time I add or make changes to the parameters I need to take a new screenshot.
