When i go to shell it crashes my computer, and I am unable to split the body as I want in the screenshot below (I was able to split the body but only using two lines which will not satisfy my design requirements):

I recommend that you create high-quality native geometry rather than attempting to use imported stl mesh rubbish that is all tiny straight lines and planar faceted triangles.

If you zoom in on the geometry - what do you observe?

Is there any way to convert it - I'm not great at CAD im just trying to make it fit the pre-existing frame for my honours project

Or should I just try my best to roughly remake it using the arc tool and what not

Can you ask you instructor to join this discussion?

Just do your best to recreate the geometry natively and post your attempt here.

Someone here will instruct you how to get it done properly. (for free - can't beat that)

My instructor won't join this discussion unfortunately. I had a go at recreating it through tracing but that obviously has its limitations which leaves me here:

The edge of the wings are very wrong and im not sure really how to fix that and the design doesn't seem to flow very well at all.

I wasnt overly concerned about sizing yet as I just want t be able to present my ideas in a pitch to a company.

I didn't see any dimensions on your first sketch - that is usually covered in the first 10 minutes of Fusion sketching instructions.

The mesh object in your file is very small, when looking at the properties:

Before remodeling this, base on a mesh, I'd import it with Insert -> Mesh and pick the right scale.

That will allow you to select different units for import .stl files don't have units, so you'll have to guess.
