Cannot local render since last update.

Since my Fusion updated to the latest version I can no longer render.

If I start a local render it doesn't get added to the Rendering Gallery.

If I try an in-canvas render it crashes as soon as the progress bar starts.

Happens with any combination of models and textures even a basic cube.

Using an iMac with OSX 10.12.6

[GPU Information]
GPU Device: ATI Radeon HD 5750
GPU RAM: 1024 MB
GPU Driver API: OpenGL Core Profile

[Graphics Effects Settings]
Use high-resolution graphics: Off
Anti Aliasing: On
Ambient Occlusion: On
Object Shadow: On
Ground Shadow: On
Ground Reflection: Off
Selection Display Style: Normal
Transparency Effect: Better Performance

[Limit effects to optimize performance]
Off

As I say it all worked fine before it updated so can only assume it's related.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting this. Can you try a couple things?

First, restart your computer. Try rendering again. If it continues to fail, please grab your diagnostic logs and post them on this thread. These are found using Help > Support and Diagnostics menu.

Can you try going to Fusion 360 Preferences > Graphics Driver and switching to OpenGL, instead of "core"?

Preferences are on the menu under your user name, upper right corner of the app.

Thanks,

When you crash, do you get a CER dialog? Please send those in so I can look at the details. I'm away from our network for a couple hours and will follow up later today.

I've sent a few in the past couple of days.

Just crashed it again and the report number is

CER_193779396

Had a look at the details and it's saying "Unhandled Exception" if that helps.

Thanks, sorry for the trouble. Can you get it to render in the cloud?

Your case is not the only one. It seems to be related to MacOS 10.13 (so far). I'm waiting now for our rendering team to take a look. Will follow up soon.

Ok cloud rendering is working so I can use that for now.

Just FYI I am on 10.12.6 not 10.13

@Anonymous

Do you have special characters in your user account on your machine? Please take a look at this post and see if the details here apply to you.

Hi, same problem here.

In canvas and local render = crash fusion 360.

MacOS 10.14.4

Fusion 2.0.5688

Cloud Render : OK

Local : crash

In canvas : crash

Even with empty file...

I have uninstall fusion with Fusion 360 cleaner and install a new one.

Uninstall all plug-in.

PS : Version 2.0.4854 works fine.

Hi, same problem for me too.

CER_196749656

Unable to do any in-canvas render. No OpenGL nor OpenGLcore works. My mac username is a simple "upro", without any special/local characters.

Every other Mac application/utilities installed work fine: Lightroom, Simplify3D, Meshmixer, netfabb, gimp, browsers, Parallels machines with opengl applications etc.

Crash persist even with the latest update.

Mac Pro 5.1, Dual Xeon, AMD Radeon HD 7950 3072 MB.

MacOS 10.13.6 with the latest ugrades/security patch

Fusion 2.0.5790

I received a message from Sally, with a bypass method that solves the problem halfway.
Local render OK
In canvas render NO OK

We still need some more time to release a formal fix to the crash in In-Canvas Render, but there is a temporary workaround to avoid failure of using Local Render you may have a try:

image004.jpg>

  • Unzip FUS-49642.zip to any location,
  • Double click "Open Fusion 360.command" in the package,
  • Fusion 360 will be launched with a working Local Render,
  • You can start rendering your designs with Local Render.

Please note:

  • If you want to use Local Render, you need to launch Fusion 360 by running “Open Fusion 360.command”
  • The workaround DOESN’T handle the crash of In-Canvas Render.

To make your voice always being heard, please keep sending your feedback to us through CER or Fusion 360 Forums.

Thank you Opus for the reply!
The workaround works, for the only local render of course, but is better than nothing at the moment.
If I understood right, the problem is somewhat related to the missing SSE4.2 instructions of the oldest ones Xeon processors, used by In Canvas rendering, that has not be handled in the latest upgrades, lacking of a proper fallback to the classic SSE2.
Hope it will be fixed soon.

I shortened Sally's answer :

"The crash is easy to encounter in MacOS running on the Mac machines with old CPUs that cannot support AVX, and the Local Render function doesn’t work in this situation either."
