Can’t use sketch for hole base

Hi all!

First off I would like to address that I am very new to designing models. I only just got my first 3D printer last week so I might not know all terms, functions in fusion 360 and so on. Bear with me.

Alright, now to the actual issue.
I’ve been working on a sketch and I need to cut a hole in it. The hole have to be the shape of a rectangle with 2 of the corners in one end chamfered down to -2mm in width and -8mm in length. I thought that I could just design another sketch with the shape and properties that I wanted and then turn that into a hole and put it in the sketch that I wish to cut in, exactly like you can in tinkercad, but this proved to be an issue that I would struggle with for over 3 hours and eventually give up on.
Are there any way for me that I can make such a cut? Are there any way that I can select an entire sketch and use that as a hole?
I’ve attached a picture of what I am trying to model and on that picture you can see the chamfer and cut I’m trying to achieve. In case there’s any doubt, it’s from the chamfered corners and down to the other end of the plate that I’m trying to cut.

Hi,

Please show a picture supplemented by a hand sketch and share the file.

Alright, here is the file.

So what I'm trying to do is put the rectangle with the chamfered corners down into the rectangle with the rounded end. It should be alligned so that the chamfered rectangle is 4.5 mm down into the other sketch, alligned the flat side opposite to the chamfer and the rounded end with each other and then having the cut centered so that there's an equal thinkness to the "walls" at the sides. (looking from the right side of the workplane)

I've attached a jpeg to the original post, and it's that same cut out that I'm trying to achieve.

Hope it's clarified well enough, otherwise let me know. 🙂

Hi,

I'm hoping that I understood the intention correctly.

You can follow the path in the screencast and in the timeline.
