Can't select more than one curve to offset

I am trying to select and offset multiple curves. Fusion won't let me do so. I'm trying follow this instructional video where the guy clearly can do the selection. What am I doing wrong?

first, make sure "chain selection" is turned on:

second, make sure your sketch lines are actually connected.  No white dots between endpoints, all in the same sketch (the active sketch).
