Can't open tool library

Hello

I seem to get more bugs lately, than i have been before and normally i think of fusion as a quite stable cad program, but lately i seems like every time i have to use it, there appears to be a new bug.

But back to my problem. I just wanted to go and do some CAM in fusion today, but when i tried to pick a milling tool, for surface milling, the tool library did not open. first i though the program crashed, since i could not cancel or anything, but i quickly found out, that i could just press escape, and i could then return to use the program again.

I have tried to reset the view to default layout and deleted the fusion folder in the localappdata location, but nothing seems to work.

I have also tried to reinstall fusion 360, did't work either...

Can you help me?

Hi @mads4ever

Thanks for posting! I have seen an issue with Fusion 360 crashing when selecting a particular tool in this forum thread as well as in this thread - does this seem similar to the problem you are experiencing?

It appears the crash can sometimes appear when double clicking the tool instead of selecting the tool and then clicking the "OK" button - can you work around the crash by avoiding double clicking the tool?

Also, does this issue appear to be unique to a single tool, or a tool library? If it appears that Fusion crashes when selecting a single tool, please send me a copy of the library containing that tool and let me know which one it is.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you continue to experience any problems - I am happy to assist. If you do see more problems, recording a screencast may help illustrate them clearly on the forum.

Hello Paul Thanks for your feedback.

The problem is that the tool library/manager window, don't even open. It's like it is there somewhere cause i can't press anything else and when i hit esc, it seems like the window closes and all things works again.

The problem is, that even when i try all the earlier mentioned solutions, the tool library/manager window won't show.

There is nothing to see in a screencast, cause nothing happens when i press the tool library/manager button.

Hi @mads4ever

Thanks for the response - that clarifies the issue. I have a few thoughts on this issue:

  • Does the tool library launch if you reset Fusion 360 to its default layout? It sounds like the tool library may be launching off the screen somewhere - this would take focus from Fusion until the Escape key was used.
  • This issue could be related a problem with cloud libraries - does the tool library launch if you disable cloud libraries? This option is in your CAM Preferences. Please let me know if disabling cloud libraries works to show the tool library.
  • As I've been unable to recreate this issue on my machine, I wonder if a clean uninstall/reinstall would help.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions - if so, it may be helpful for us to have a look at your diagnostic log files.

I am having the same issue; I can only open the tool library once and once closed it will not open anymore unless I restart the program. When I go to the tool library I also can not edit any tool. Like with the tool library I click on Edit tool  but nothing pops up. What is the solution? I installed again fusion a couple of times but no luck.

The tool library won't open when I am inside of CAM working on a toolpath.  I go to select my tool and the tool library never opens up.  I've experienced this on two different MACs and have done clean uninstall and reinstall on both.  I can't find a rhyme or reason to it.

I have the same issue, everything else is working but on the manufacturing, I cant seem to pick a tool or open the tool library, I was thinking my account has met its limit but I tried on my older laptop and everything works fine, both runs on windows 10, I am running Dual Monitor, Dual GPU setup but Fusion is running on Nvidia GT730..

I also am having the same issue. Can't access tool or machine libraries. I prepared one file on Friday with CAM (setup and toolpaths) and no problem and went to CAM up a similar but different file this morning and can't access any libraries. Strange thing is that I have both files open at this moment and can access the tool and machine libraries on the first file but not on the second from this morning. Did various saves, file close and open, logged off and restarted Fusion and logged on again but with no difference. I don't get it.

I had the same problem but now it works. It seems that if you use fusion on a second monitor and then go back to using a single monitor this problem appears. Just go back to the dual monitor setup and the tool library will re-appear.

Hope this helps.
