can't log in: There was an error while logging in to Fusion

when I open the fusion 360 app on my Mac I get this message:

There was an error while logging in to Fusion 360

then it quit.

if I open the installer, it says it's already installed and asks if I want to open it, then it appears to open correctly.

how can I fix it so the app itself opens without problems?

solved: apparently, I had an old version of fusion 360 on my Mac, the new version, called Autodesk Fusion.
