Can't de-select faces in the MESH workspace

Hi, I can't seem to de-select faces in the MESH workspace, I've tried every key combination. I do, hovever, can properly de-select faces when working in the MODEL workspace. What am I missing? Shouldn't they behave the same? Thank you!

Thank you for posting in the forum! Does it help if you hit [Esc] key? I can also deselect by clicking anywhere there is no geometry. It seems to me that it's working just like Model workspace.

Are you seeing that behavior while you are using a specific command?

That works to deselect everything at once, but what about deselecting individual faces?
