Can't Access Recently saved models

Anonymous

I understand Fusion is down, but WHY CAN'T I ACCESS A MODEL I JUST SAVED?

Seriously guys, what the hell is going on?

Fusion took a dump, so I restarted it, and now the design I was working on is not accessible. It's ghosted out.

I thought this sort of thing was being addressed?

Not acceptable.

@Anonymous

"I thought this sort of thing was being addressed?"

So did I...

"Not acceptable."

Agreed....at least you were able to save, I can't even do that right now.

Seems kind of random as to what I have access to and don't.

Hi guys,

As it has been said elsewhere, apologies about this outage we are working on things as we speak.  That being said the problem you are seeing isn't something we want to be occurring whether we have an outage or you decide to go offline yourselves.

Are either or both of you able to share your logs, and a quick screencast of some examples?  Myself and a number of others have been working on some ways to improve offline data, and scenarios like this are ones we want to make sure are taken into account.  With the logs, it should help us understand what has been happening over the last couple days, and give us more information regarding some of the recently saved models and why they are not showing up.  Also if you have specific names of the models in question, that can help us out immensely as well.

Hopefully the outage will be resolved soon, but while looking at the logs we can see if there are any quick ways of getting you access to your recently saved models that you don't currently have access to.

Cheers,

Hi,

Thanks for posting your screenshots and logs. The ghosting effect is supposed to show you the files that are only in the cloud and not available in your local cache.

Only the files that are in your local cache are available for editing when you are in offline mode.

If you were just editing the file then it should have been in your local cache and not ghosted out. Can you tell me the name of the file? I will check its status from your logs.

Again, we apologize for this situation and are trying to fix it as soon as possible.

Thanks,

MPPC-Fiber Interface

I was led to believe that my were stored locally from the last 2 months. Is that not the case here?

I can't access anything either.  Someone from autodesk need to explain exactly how the "offline" thing is supposed to work.  This is costing us money.

Hi @Anonymous,

I examined your logs and can see that the design MPPC-Fiber Interface is in your cache (at least the meta data that is associated with it is so that implies the file should be as well).

It's not clear to me why it's grayed out but I have a theory. One clue is the fact that in the screenshot of your Data Panel, it says v12 for the grayed out MPPC-Fiber Interface where as you have v13 on your machine. It's possible this is why Fusion is not allowing you open the file. This seems like a defect on our end which we need to fix.

In the meantime, could try restarting Fusion so that it detects you have v13 on your machine? I will examine some other solutions also.

Thanks,

Saket

I tried that already.  But will try it again.  it does not even ask if I want to load a back up file.

I see that the part is now available to load, but it will not, and throws an error.

Log attached.

Okay, I will take a look at why it didn't allow you to open it and get back to you.

Hi @PhilProcarioJr,

Is what you are seeing the same as Big_mak? or are things different on your side?  I want to make sure that what your issue is, isn't a different problem than what we are investigating with Big_mak.

Cheers,

@joel.palioca

When Fusion switched me to offline mode I just couldn't save my file for about an hour...the save and save as actions were greyed out. Eventually I was able to save and I can see all my local data that has been worked on so my issue was different then @Anonymous's.

I'm not at work now so I can't send logs, but I doubt they would help anyways as my only real issue was the two save options and export were greyed out.

Hi @Anonymous,

When you tried to open the file this time around, you got errors because of the server side outage that's going on currently.

You could try to manually go into offline mode (if you are not already offline) and try to open it again to see if Fusion can pull the file from the cache successfully.

If that fails, another option is to open the file directly from your cache and start working on that. You will lose your version history if you go down that path but at least you can start working with it again.

If you want to try the second option, please go to the File menu in Fusion 360 and select New Design From File. Then choose the file directly from your cache by browsing for

C:/Users/<windows user name>/AppData/Local/Autodesk/Autodesk Fusion 360/MGXKKQAKQAYL/W.login/F/_MPPC-Fiber interface.d2941a3a-d6d7-4716-8a2e-263014f307d2.f3d

Hopefully one of these options works for you.

Thanks,

Saket

Understood, I appreciate the follow up.  It does sounds like your issue is different, so logs shouldn't be required, but if you do see something like this again, if you are able to capture it, it might help us track down the problem and get it fixed.
