Can I still install on Windows 7.

Anonymous
Not applicable

I want to install the free personal use version of Fusion 360.

But I don't want to up upgrade my Windows 7 computer just for this one piece of software.

To me an upgrade means building a whole new Windows 10 computer...and all the headaches involved in switching over all my software.

Will the install process allow me to do this at this current time?

Today's date is July 09 2020.

I realize the install process may pop up a warning saying that Windows 7 is not supported, but still allow me to continue with the install anyway.

Are there any reported huge issues on installing and running on Windows 7.

My current Windows 7 environment seems to be running well at this time.

Thank you.

Do a search on this forum using a phrase such as "Fusion Installation on Windows 7" and you will find few entries where users cannot get Fusion 360 to install on Windows 7.  I cannot speak from any experiences because I do not have access to Windows 7 and have not tried it.   With this number of users posting issues, I would expect you to will have some issues.

OK...I looked at some of those old issues.

Looks like a lot of them dealt with networked computer...but mine is stand alone.

The last poster with problems back in April was getting the following error message:

"Your operating system is not supported. Fusion 360 is supported on 64-bit Windows 7 or newer".

So that error message seems to indicate that indeed this software should still be able to run on Windows 7.

So I'm going to take a shot at an install...and report back if the install works and the software seems to be running.

That error means your system is 32 bit, not 64 bit, but there is no guaranty that fusion will work on windows 7 64 bit since it is at the end of its life.

Fusion 360 has stopped support for windows 7 since some months ago. So, I wont say that you can not install fusion 360 in a 64 bit windows 7. But, if there is no other way, and you really need to run fusion 360 just give it a try. Because your fusion license is attached with your Autodesk account not your pc.

Surely Fusion 360 ran on Windows 7 at one stage. How can I get a copy of the older version that runs on Windows 7?

Fusion 360 is a Cloud based installation, there is no such thing as an "old" installation file since there were none to start with.  Fusion 360 ran well on Windows 7 but will not run on it in its latest version and as I just said, the latest version is the one one you can download the installer for.

By the way, if you have your Windows 7 Key, the upgrade to Windows 10 is still free.

😞 I can't see the "Accept Solution icon".

Unfortunately I don't always have access to the internet so I guess Autodesk isn't the software I need.

Thank you for your help.

You must be the original Forum poster to see the "Accept Solution" icon, which you are not.  If you do not have Internet access, you would not be able to use Fusion 360 even if it would still worked on Windows 7.  Since it is cloud based you have to log on when your first start it and then return to the internet intermittently to continue to use it.

Then it doesn't work.
In the meantime, the end of W 10 (October 1025) is also in sight.

Logic says if Windows 7 does not support Fusion installation or use, then if your computer cannot be upgraded to Windows 10, you have two situations to overcome.  By the way, as mentioned, Windows 10 will no longer be supported by Microsoft after October, 2025, as already mentioned.  Autodesk HAS NOT announced that Fusion will not support Windows 10 at that time.  I suspect Fusion will be capable of being installed and run on a Windows 10 system for a number of years to come.

This is incorrect. Anyone using Fusion today and still on Windows 10 should be seeing a small banner at the top stating that come October 2025, Fusion will no longer be supported on Windows 10. That's not to say that it will cease working, but it will no longer be bug tested against and may present issues that are not seen on W11 or Mac OS.
