Bug with browser arrows

Anonymous
Not applicable

@rwtee1 has posted about this before in https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-support/arrows-in-browser/m-p/7757632

In the screencast, I had been working on this model for a couple hours without any issues.  Suddenly my browser didn't want to cooperate.  The arrows flicker and disappear when they are moused over, and many attempts are needed to expand or retract browser items.  I forgot to try CAM space as well while I was recording, but I'm pretty sure the problem persists in other workspaces.

Restarting Fusion 360 seems to fix the problem, but I see this issue a few times a week.

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for reporting the issue!

I haven't been able to reproduce the issue yet and I was curious if the issue is specific to the design or if you are seeing it in any designs. Could you share a public link to the design with me if the issue is specific to the design so I could test?

Also, I was wondering if the browser was just being slow, but not stopped working. Have you tried waiting a bit longer to see if the browser reacts eventually? When you see this issue, is it always after working for a couple of hours or does this also happen as soon as you start working?

I'm sorry for asking a bunch of questions but any information you could provide would be helpful for us to troubleshoot further.

I don't think the issue is specific to any particular design, but I can send you a private message with a link to the design I was working on in the screencast.

I realize I was working a little fast in the screencast - I will record another one to further explore the problem next time I encounter it.  I think the browser arrows disappear from under the cursor when it is in certain positions.  The browser does not seem to be slow to respond.  I'm not sure yet how length of time in Fusion 360 or in a specific model might relate.

Hi Kyle,

Thank you for the additional information! I will investigate the issue further and post more information as soon as I have one.

In the meantime, please restart Fusion to fix the issue when this happens again.

I apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I reported the same issue two weeks ago,

My Screencast was remarkable similar.

Hi,

Sorry for the trouble. I'm looking into this issue. It's not generally reproducible. So since several people are reporting it, I need to figure out if you all have something in common so I can find a reproducible case to debug.

Would you say this only occurs after extended modeling with a large model? Or can you reproduce it with a new empty design browser?

Are you scaling your display? (e.g. 150% scaling) What are your resolution settings?

And last, can you use the Graphics Diagnostic tool, found in the Help menu to copy and paste your graphics information in a reply here?

Thanks and again apologies for the inconvenience.

I'm working from home this week and have not encountered this issue on my personal computer.  I don't think I've encountered the issue except in large models, but I almost always work on models with many components & linked fixtures for CAM.

Got it, thanks. Please let us know if it happens on your home computer or not, that's a valuable clue.

Also, just a test, you can try from inside Fusion 360: Preferences > Graphics Driver > DX9 to see if there's a difference, on your work PC.

Thanks for the details. Sorry for any trouble this is causing.

Lot of water under the bridge since then,

I think I just closed and reopened the file, or restarted Fusion, - either way the arrows have worked fine, ever since,

What I remember,  I could be wrong,

this file has two models downloaded at different times from Grabcad,

I think the AR7000 was uploaded and opened

the Servo was inserted into current design, and link broken,

On the day, the problem was persistent, and was captured on the screencast before the restart.

file and Grapics info,

Windows 10, Hp Pavillion 23,

Been a while since I encountered this bug but I got another recording.  I had only had Fusion 360 open for about 30 minutes, and the specific model I was working on was open for less than 10m.

Expanded arrows appear darker and solid, working as intended, but collapsed arrows flicker and require extra clicks or precise movement to get them to work.

Recorded in CAM space, but model & other spaces do not change the behavior of the browser.  The first model is the one I was working on at the time I noticed the issue, the second was an older model that I haven't opened in months.  The arrow behavior seems consistent across all models and is remedied by a Fusion 360 restart.

I don't know if there's anything else I can provide, but I do believe the problem is hardware related as I've only encountered this on the less powerful of my 2 workstations.  Or could it be Windows 10?

@Anonymous

It's interesting that Screencast is not recording mouse clicks for those attempts to expand the arrow.

You mention this being different on two separate machines. One more powerful than the other. What is the difference between them?

My guess is still graphics. Please post your graphics diagnostic information. Maybe also try Preferences > Graphics driver > DX9 on your problem machine.

Sorry for the trouble, glad to help figure this out.

Thanks,

@Phil.E

I don't think screencast missed any mouse clicks, I was demonstrating the flicker behavior during mouseover of the arrows.

Problem computer's graphics info was posted in Message 8 of this thread.

AMD Radeon HD 6900 on Windows 10 (graphics issues)

vs

Nvidia GTX 980 on Windows 7 (works great)

I will try DX9 and see if I notice any changes.

I see this issue regularly as well. I'm a beginner, so my projects never get very large.

Hello

It has been a while since this was active, but I have this bug every day with all of my computers and I have to restart fusion every single time.

It usually occurs when I haven't touched fusion for a while, for instance after taking a bath.

File size is irrelevant and it occurs in all my files at the same time.

I have been using fusion for almost two years and I import a lot as well as make complex parts and get quite large file sizes.

It has been very persistent and I would appreciate any feedback.

I also have a bug where the joint marks (the blue and white ones) suddenly become enormous and make it impossible to see anything. This is quite recent.

Thank you

Experienced this a few times since original posting, seems to be related to how many files I have open, and then.working in a file where if all the Browser was expanded will extend below  the screen and required the browsers slider bar, to become activated.

Flickering arrows and difficult selection, may only occur if the slider bar is involved, not sure, but yesterday’s file was big enough and jumping around the Browser, it was back.

Yes the reboot fixes it, but is that because I cull the files that were open, and now are not reopened, can’t say.  I’m tending to think it’s the slider bar involvement.

Might help...

updating now. Before updating I've restarted my computer a few times for other things and the arrow issue seems to have gone away, though I have experiences this before several times. I believe as someone else posted this does typically happen after fusion has been open for a while and the monitor has gone to sleep.

My set up is a laptop with a GTX1060 with 2 additional screens besides the main screen those are run via HDMI and Displayport connections.
