bug report: cannot delete model

Description:

If Model B is inserted into current design of Model A, saved, then B is deleted from the workflow area in Model A.
Then if you delete B in the Data Panel, it says: cannot delete because it is referenced in other designs, while it actually is not.

This is not a bug. The reason you can't delete design B is because it's still referenced by design A Version 1. If you want to delete design B you have to delete A first as there's no way to remove version history from saved designs.

The workaround is to use Save As and save A to a new design the delete A then delete B.

Hi,

I think it is a bug, because it is not possible to delete design A, even after you've deleted all 'design B' references within design A, and even if you've also deleted design B from the data panel altogether...

Now you say you can delete B but not A, that's different from what you said before. So is that correct you can delete B?

@yoeproth If you really think this is a bug you'd be better off reporting it in the Support section so someone from AutoDesk can help you. Here on the ideastation it might not get looked at for a while. If you click the report button in your first message you can ask for it to be moved to the support section.

OK I will, thanks.

For summary, I've ended up with the situation, in the data panel, where I cannot delete design B (because it is referenced in design A, although all references have been deleted in the model).
design A in the data panel must be maintained...

If any previous version of A has a reference to B you can not delete B, this is by design. Just deleting references in the current version is not going to allow you to delete design B.

Fusion has no way to remove previous versions saved in design A so if design A version 1 has a reference to B and you remove B from A in version 2, B is still referenced in Av1.

The only way you can get around this is to use Save As and save A to a new design and name then delete A then B.

The whole idea of version history is you might need a previous version at some point so all references have to be maintained and designs used can not be deleted.
