BUG: Multi-file designs and Description properties not working

I have a new design that I am using different design files for various sub-components of my overall project.  I have a BOM drawing that I am outputting my parts list, including the description fields.  All the descriptions are blank and I cannot seem to get them populated.

I have each part in their own design file, and I am putting a material description and cut length in the description field for each part.

Then in my master design file, I have used Insert Component to import the component into the design.  When I examine the properties of that component, the description is blank, despite the description being in the source file.  The description field is also locked, so I can't even add the description here.

And in my parts list, the description is also blank:

I think there is a bug where the description field is not brought over when you reference a component from another file.  The parts list is a very important feature and this bug makes it unusable.

The reason this is happening is you have created assemblies, not parts. Each part you are using has a sub component, making it an assembly. The properties of the assembly are displayed in the drawing, and those have not been edited. Only the child component in the sub assembly has been given properties.

Here is how you do this workflow to get the results you want.

1. Create a new design. Do not create a new component in it.

2. Create all sketches, features, and a single body at the root of the design browser.

Notice how the root node icon is a single component "box". Compare to your own single-components, they have a stack of boxes icon, which is an assembly.

3. Edit the properties of the root component.
