Brand new user here with very elementary questions. Your patience is advised.

Hello!  I'm trying to learn fusion 360.  When the tutorial I watch begins the view cube is positioned differently in the tutorial. I have figured out how to change it and reset it so that it matches what I'm watching. The tutorial selects a plane to construct a box in so I want to have exactly what they have. When I reset the top or front with my reoriented view cube, the labels for the axes promptly disappear and selecting the same plane as my tutorial is impossible. I would appreciate any guidance you can spare and/or direction to a tutorial you might recommend. Thank you.

Would it matter if I told you that, for the most part, what plane you draw it on or how the viewcube is oriented is largely irrelevant?

No because as a newbie I’m trying to follow what the tutorial is accomplishing

But let me say a few other things first. This is a very elementary tutorial and although another user reminded me that it doesn't really matter what plane I work in, I want to have control over what I'm doing. If the tutorial is working in the XY plane, then I want to be able to change my view to what I'm watching. Thanks for offering your help.

The user in the video has his axes orientation in a standard format, Z up.  I suspect that your Fusion Preferences need to be adjusted so this is the case.  In the video I show how this is done.  I did not show it in the video but if you right click on a previous sketch and select Edit Sketch, the view will automatically return to the plane the sketch was created.  Hope this helps, if you have specific questions please ask.

Thank you so much John. This did the trick and I'm ready to go back to the tutorials now. By the way, I'm working in inches also but the authors of the tutorial are based in Canada so they use metric dimensions. I do know how  to switch over.

Please let me know if you have links to any tutorials that have been created recently. I've found that some "Learn Fusion 360 in a couple days" videos were created several years  ago with a fusion desktop that appears differentlty.
