Blurry text and icons on high dpi display (4k)

Hello,

I'm new to Fusion 360 and it seems to have a scaling issue on high-dpi displays. I'm using a 24 inch 4k (3840 x 2160) and the entire screen looks blurry (texts, icons, main viewport, etc...). I've found this support link and tried disabling scaling for this program, it did make everything sharp and crisp but also extremely small and unusable...

Here's how it looks like:

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Fusion 360 community!

As you found, disabling scaling will make the Fusion UI more clear on the high resolution monitor, but can result in the text, menus, and toolbars becoming very small. You may be able to improve this by setting your display to a lower resolution (try 1920x1080).

One Ideastation post that could help folks using Fusion take advantage of high resolution monitors is the suggestion to allow options to scale the text and UI - this post is linked here. Please give it a vote if you would be interested in seeing this improvement in Fusion!

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions!

Hi,

I up-voted this post but it seems to have only 4 votes... Surely there must be a way more people using an high DPI display?

This is a major issue for me and is the only thing preventing me from purchasing this otherwise excellent software! I hope this will be sorted out in the future, meanwhile, I think I'll continue to use it for my hobby projects with the free license...

Maybe make this vote more visible? I'm sure a lot of people want this feature but don't know where to voice their opinion...

Thanks for the response!

Hi @Anonymous

Agreed - I would like to see that Ideastation post get more votes, as the ability to scale UI in Fusion would also provide an accessibility improvement for folks with poor eyesight as well as help optimize the use of high resolution monitors. Hopefully this forum thread will point some votes over there, and feel free to comment on the Ideastation post if this is something your feel strongly about. The development team does consider other factors than total number of votes when looking through the Ideastation!

We appreciate your kind words about Fusion 360 and hope that development can provide this improvement in the future.

Hi, This has been discussed since 2015 as an issue. Why does this need to be an ideastatio post after all this time - surely support for 4k monitors for a CAD package is an obvious requirement. This sounds like a stalling tactic for a requirement that has been highlighted since 2015 that I'm aware of.

Fusion is a great product but this is a frustrating issue.

@paul.clauss you posted a duplicate of the original idea https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-ideastation-request-a/adjustable-width-length-for-window-p... from 2015.

Changing my screen back to 1080p is DEFINITELY not an option. Thats not why i bought a display with higher resolution.

I also got response from my YouTube Subscribers which would really appreciate this change!!!

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for reaching out! We do understand that this is something that needs to be improved in a future update to Fusion - unfortunately this can take some time. The Ideastation post has been marked for future consideration and our development team does have it in their backlog. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause you as they work towards a solution.

I just updated Fusion 360 today and it looks like it's not solved yet unfortunately. This is really the only feature preventing me from purchasing the product 😞

Wow, this incredible - 2+ years and its still the same status! Seriously this is exactly the kind of application that should be making use of 4k monitors. Very disappointing - otherwise such a great product.

It is absolutely amazing to me that this is a problem for years on an application that otherwise checks every UI box for me. This is the sort of issue I deal with trying to get applications working in the antiquated printing industry. I never would have dreamed downloading an industry standard 3D modeling application, especially one which looks to be written as a cross platform electron app.

Beggars belief this is still an issue and in a CAD application of all things where screen real estate is important.

I normally use an iMac, but I just ran Fusion 360 on Windows with a 4K monitor, and WOW -- this is a flashback from ten years ago! Everything is blurry.

These days I consider 4K to be a low-res monitor and spend most of my time on 5K iMac. I followed the (ancient) support article about enabling/disabling application scaling and now I ended up with hi-res rendering with a user interface that is too small. I guess that's better than nothing, but still -- this needs to be fixed.

2021 and not fixed. You would think high resolution support would be one of the basic facets of a program that is almost always used on high resolution displays.......

Janaury 2021. The program still looks blurry. Why is everything fine on Macs, but there is no HighDPI support on Windows?

Hi,

I just face the same issue - blurry huge icons on a 4k monitor.
Autodesk should ask the Blender developers (www.blender.org) how one get smooth UI with every display size!
Blender allows to increase/decrease UI almost in pixel steps - very smoothly.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast/6fa23371-8122-4240-8d52-7454c722297d

So Autodesk developers please ask Blender developers how to get there!

Thanks!
