Base view crash

Hi everyone,

Everytime my Fusion 360 as to create a Base view, the software crash. The problem is if I create a new drawing, automatically Fusion put a base view on the new drawing which make Fusion crash automatically everytime I create a new drawing. I can open an existant drawing, but if I click on base view, Fusion crash instantly. I've tried to reinstall Fusion 2 times. The 2 times, I can make a new drawing for like 24 hours and after that, the bug came back.

The problem arrived the same morning my Windows 10 Professionnel as updated to 20H2.

Thank you for the support.

Update: The problem persist with any parts and any templates on my computer. My coworker use the same parts and templates as me and his computer don't crash.

@thomasASZGG Are you getting a crash error report to submit to Autodesk? If so can you post a report ID so that we can track it?

Also, considering the statement of the latest windows update, are you and your peer on the same windows version?

@RajkumarIlanchelian I don't get any crash report. Usualy, I have a crash report window opening after a crash, but for my Base View problem, I never had that window. Also, my peer and I have the same version of Windows and Fusion 360.

30 minutes ago, I downgraded to the old version of Windows (the one that was working correctly with Fusion 360) and I still have the problem with my Base View.

I attached a diagnostic file generated by Fusion 360. I hope it could help.

@thomasASZGG I don't see anything in the logs that gives a clue of the crash. I am forwarding this to our drawings team to see if they have an idea.

Hi thomasASZGG,

You said you had tried uninstalling and reinstalling Fusion 360. Have you run through the "full clean" steps in between the uninstall and reinstall? You can find the information here:
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How...

I also see you have Fusion set to French. For the purposes of trying to debug this, could you try switching to English to see if that makes a difference?

Sorry you have been having problems, we will see if we can get you back up and running.

Hi @thomasASZGG,

Can you please share few more details like;
> Fusion 360 version/language you use:
> Win/Graphics Specification:
> Nature of crash: is it just drawing workspace or entire Fusion crash?
> Whether co-worker also possesses the same configuration of product version/language?

Meantime, can you try?
> 'Restore Defaults' option in Fusion preferences.
> 'Clear cache data' though Help - Support and Diagnostics option.
Hopefully, your problem should get resolved with the above remedy. (Considering this is user-specific issue)

Thanks & regards

Hi @sabadell,

I did not uninstalled Fusion 360 the clean way. I uninstall it by the Windows 10 "Uninstall programs" in parameters. I just switched to English version and the crash still remaining.

There something that I just find this morning that could help debugging my Fusion :  I try to do a drawing on parts of 5 differents projects and only one of them can create drawings. The other 4 projects crash instantly when I try to create a drawing. In the past, like 1-2 weak ago, I was able to create drawing with those 4 projects.

If the cause of the crash is in the Fusion installation, uninstalling Windows is not enough.
Possible error sources are only eliminated via the linked Clean Uninstall by @sabadell .

Hi @suryawa,

> Fusion 360 version/language you use:

2.0.10032
Active Plan: Fusion 360, Subscription
Windows 10 (19041)

Nom du système d’exploitation Microsoft Windows 10 Professionnel
Version 10.0.19041 Numéro 19041

Computer : HP Z2 Mini G4 Workstation (i5-9500 / NVIDIA Quadro P600)

> Nature of crash: is it just drawing workspace or entire Fusion crash?

When the program try to create a base view, Fusion 360 shutdown completly. The problem is when I try to create a drawing, automaticly, Fusion 360 insert a Base View which make him shutdown. I joint 2 screenrecords to this message to show the crashes:

1) is I try to create a drawing and Fusion crash. (open_drawing.avi)

2) is a open the existant drawing (that I make 2 weak ago before the bug)  (open_base_view.avi)

> Whether co-worker also possesses the same configuration of product version/language?

My coworker have a different computer but he is running on the same version of Fusion 360 on English. I was with the French version last week, but after what @sabadell  tell me, I put Fusion 360 in English and it make no differences.

I clear the cache data and I Restore Defaults and Fusion 360 is still crashing.

Hi @sabadell @g-andresen @suryawa @RajkumarIlanchelian,

I just uninstalled (the clean way) like @sabadell show me how to and my "Base view crash" didn't happen anymore. I've done anything to trigger to bug after to reinstallation and the bug didn't came back.

In the past, I arleady done a reinstallation, but I didn't uninstall Fusion 360 the clean way. The first hours the bug was unexistant, but it always came back after a few hours. So, I will wait 24h and give you all a feedback to see if the problem is 100% resolved.

Really appreciated how everyone give their expertices and supports so fast on this forum.

Thank you all!

Hi thomasASZGG,

Glad to hear the clean uninstall did the trick. We can do some further testing around changing the Fusion language between English and French to see if this contributed to getting your system into an unstable state. Please do let us know if you run into further problems.

Having a similar issue. Using Fusion 360 online in my classroom. Students (and me) are experiencing freezing when adding a drawing to a title block. It has happened at the exact same moment at each instance. The title block has loaded, the base view is still attached to the mouse, when the scale is changed - it freezes. Absolutely nothing on the screen is operable. Closing the browser, shutting down the computer... after logging in again - it's on the same frozen screen. It seems to resolve after 7-8 hours of not being usable - from class time to after dinner time is a typical spread of freeze.

Hi @spope0884 ,

Since you mentioned 'Using Fusion 360 Online in my Classroom',

can you please confirm if you are using desktop application or fusion web version?

I tried referring old threads here but the old avi are not working..!

Can you please capture a video to show the issue?

We're using the web based fusion 360. Not much to show in a video. I've attached a pic. You can see I was just about to change the scale of the base view when it froze. This is a screen shot from my PC, the kids use chrome books. Happened to four kids today. Frozen Fusion.png

Hi @spope0884 ,

Can you give a try to 'Clear cache data' once?

Screenshot 2022-12-05 at 10.04.14 PM.png

The trailing threads also show some of the related solution, hope that has been reviewed.

PS:

Does these systems use same login credentials, can you try using different one?

  • I am looking for equlivalent Web based Fusion credential that will help to reproduce the issue easily.

Unfortunately when it freezes we can't do anything on the web based app. So clearing the cache data is not an option. Should we clear that data manually on a daily basis?

So far our only working solution is to wait 6-8 hours and then the freeze is over and we are able to log in and work again.

@spope0884 Does a change in browser help at least in the interim while this is being looked at? If you are on chrome does Firefox or another browser help?

Unfortunately as we are in a public school we are only using Chrome on ChromeBooks.
