Autosave never works and cache folder F empty (no .f3d files)

Hi I have been using Fusion360 for 2 years now and I always have the automatic-save option set to 5 minutes.

A few times recently, I would complete a certain model, save it giving it a proper file name, and see a confirmation of it being saved when I see it appear in the "My recent data" tab on the left. But when I restart my Fusion360 program and go to the "My recent data" tab to look for my file: my recent work is missing, everything has been lost. This frustrating problem has happened to me quite a few times.

Not only has the file disappeared, but when I try to locate the automatic saves associated with my lost work on my Macintosh HD > Users > *** > Library > Application Support > Autodesk > Autodesk Fusion 360 > *** > W.Login,  the folders D and F are empty containing only a few useless _xx files (see photo#1), the .f3d are no where to be found on my HD as explained on your support page

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How....

I dont understand how Fusion 360 has not performed one single automatic-save on my computer in the 2 years that I have been using this program, especially when I always leave this option ON and it is always set to 5 minutes.

I have included 2 photos and a log file.

I hope someone can help me resolve this frustrating issue, did anyone ever experience something similar? The automatic-save is an important option and I need to be able to use it.

Much appreciated

Karim

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for posting in the community forum!

Can you find your files in this page? If the files were saved correctly, you should be able to find the files on the web and also in the project in the data panel of Fusion 360. Could you click on the arrow in the data panel and double click the project you saved the files in to see if you can find files there?

"Automatic-save" is only for situations where Fusion does not close correctly (for example when the program crashes) and this cannot be used as a backup file if files have been saved correctly.

"Locally cached files"  are kept on the local drive for the period of time you set in the Preference menu. In the screenshot, it seems like it's set to 15 days so locally cached files should be kept for 15 days after the day you last open the file. When was the last time you opened files in Fusion 360? Is that more than 15 days ago?

Hi Masanobu,

Thank you for your help.

I did look for my missing files in the link you provided, I am familiar with this directory and they are not there. It is not in the Projects directory on the Data panel either. The file is gone and it looks like a bug because it happened to me 2-3 times and I read other people on this forum experiencing similar problems.

The best solution I found is to manually export the files that I'm working on to my HD each time, saving to the cloud is not too reliable for me.

All the best
