Any decent tutorials?

Hi, I started with the tutorials from the official site but found that they aren't very good for beginners, in that they are a little bit convoluted in some areas and not detailed enough in others as the narrator quickly clicks though options and also assumes some prior CAD knowledge. The tutorials also reference other tutorials instead of being self-contained. That would be OK if they had been listed in the order they were made.

Would people mind posting links to decent video tutorials here please? Just the basics, covering each main feature or handy tips or walk-throughs of projects from start to finish would be good.

Would be good to have a sticky post here with a library of tutorials for beginners here. Thank you.

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Fusion 360 Community!

I'd love to see the community chime in here as well and show what they used to help them learn (as it has been a while for me personally). I know that whenever we train new people on my team, I like to branch out from the website tutorials and push into the YouTube domain as well as other learning sites. The one thing I have learned however when it comes to learning material is that everyone prefers different methods of learning. Are you more of a video or a document person?

Also, any areas in specific that you would like to learn more about? I.e. basic CAD modeling or assemblies or even CAM? I can suggest different things.

One thing I would check out are our YouTube playlist here that contains quick tips and webinars. These can be great for learning concepts as well as seeing how someone models first hand. My one warning when it comes to any learning content - is to check the date when it was published. Fusion changes very rapidly so anything dating back a few years (pushing into 2015, early 2016) most likely looks a bit different/UI has changed. The concepts should all be the same, but don't be startled if it looks a little different.

I haven't actually watched these - but Lynda.com tutorials are usually top-notch.

Your school might provide free access to these.

Thanks!

I'm more of a video person but get confused easily with jargon and people quickly clicking through or providing an excess of unnecessary info. I prefer to get the basics down and then explore myself for a while and then get stuck in with more in-depth tutorials or specific help-files and documents.

I'm an ex-aircraft engineer and former carbon-fibre fitter and am familiar with engineering drawings but not CAD or CNC design. I'm more of an artist but want to explore the potential of CAD for 3D printing and modeling. I'm reasonably familiar with basic sculpting software so I can navigate and zoom and select tools etc...

I'll check out the videos on youtube - thanks for the support 🙂

I'm a fan of Lars Christensen's youtube  fusion 360 videos.

This is the first one:  https://youtu.be/A5bc9c3S12g

But there are lots on his channel.

His pace is good. Not too fast but moves along so as not to waste lots of time.
