After update to macOS 11 (Big Sur) Fusion 360 working in offline mode

Hi,

I upgraded my Mac to macOS 11 (Big Sur) recently, but since then when I open Fusion 360, it opens in offline mode with only one file is openable (?), the others being greyed out.  I looked at the "Fusion 360 is stuck in offline/maintenance mode" page, but the instructions, do not translate into the new OS, so I have no idea what to do.

I also have Fusion 360 installed on my iPad and although the app opens, I get the following message, which has not changed for over an hour....  This suggests to me that the problem is network related....

Screenshot 2020-11-16 at 18.08.19.png

I have removed the app and re-installed it, but it's just the same.

I use a VPN and run Antivirus.  I've tried disabling both of these, but it still opens in offline mode...

Any suggestions please?

Thanks!

In this linked article can you please try the "Refresh the browser cache" solution?

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I did this earlier, but with difficulty.  The instructions say

"In a Terminal window, type the command open ~/library."

The problem here is that this command is unknown in macOS 11.  by removing the '-' the library opened, but there is no 'Autodesk' folder under Application Support.... I'm not sure how, but I managed to get access to the folder and did delete the file and folder, but it made no difference.

Hi @fshotf, or others reading this response in the future -- if you omit the leading tilde, you will definitely open the wrong library folder. You need to type "open ~/library" WITH TILDE (not "open /library") in a Terminal window.  Then you should see the folders in question. FWIW, I tried that command on my Mac and it works fine.

Hi,

Apologies, I could not see a tilde, it looked like a dash...

I have now deleted the '*NGlobalOptions.xml' and **NMachineSpecificOptions.xml
*files. However I cannot browse to '~T/Autodesk/' after opening '*$TMPDIR*'
- I cannot see it... Please advise.

Thanks!

You can try

Open $TMPDIR and then that should launch a finder that has. the T/Autodesk/

I would have expected that when you deleted the xml files that it worked for you. Once you did that when you are in the product are you able to turn it on from offline to online?

If this does not work then, would like to take a look at your logs. Go to Help->Diagnostics and support ->Diagnostic log files. It should generate a zip that you can attach it here.

Hi,

I have opened $TMPDIR - it opens in T, but there is no Autodesk file or
folder there.

Attached is the Fusion360DiagnostivLogs.zip - I hope this will give you the
answer to my problem....

Many thanks for your help.

Thank you for the log files. Appears something to do with your hub that may be the issue per the logs. Can you try the below please ?

1. Close Fusion 360

2. Go to https://login.autodesk360.com/

3. Are you able to log in successfully?

4. If you are go to a design and you should see an option "Open in Desktop"

5. This should launch the Fusion 360 again

Now does this launch in online mode?

Hi,

I followed your instructions and opened the http page - it opened, automatically logging me in.  I clicked a link to open a file and I got a message saying that my hub would need to be opened and any open files would be closed.  I agreed to this and Fusion 360 opened, but once I had the main screen open, all I got was a static monochrome 'ball' cursor and no file.  If I moved the mouse over the list of files the cursor turned to a coloured spinning ball.

All but one file are greyed out still, but that one file I can access and it opens without problem....

Thanks as always!

Does it still have you in offline mode? At this time if you logout/close/relaunch/login Fusion does it go online?

Hi,

Yes still in offline mode, even after rebooting.  However, I have booted into safe mode and although it was understandably clunky, I could access and open files.

I obviously have a problem causing connectivity issues, but am stumped as to what's causing it...  Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks!

I will ask around for other options but could you do a quick restart of your router to see if that does anything? Also if you have anti-virus, can you disable that and see if that does anything different?

Hi,

I think I have solved the issue! To minimise risks, I installed AVG antivirus some time ago and it seems that this is the culprit.  I have uninstalled it and I can now access my files in Fusion 360.

Many thanks for your help!  I hope this solution may help others.

Hi Rajkumar,
Thanks for your post on handling the offline problem.

I followed the link that you have provided.
In /Neutronplatform I don't have the two xml files.

In /T I don't have autodesk

So I used the unistall app to remove fusion 360, and have downloaded / installed it again.

The working offline indication remains.

update:

It's only after uninstalling Avast that I was able to get back into online mode.

I've been struggling with the same Offline/Maintenance issue for a while now. As mentioned above, the troubleshooting page was no help.  AVAST removal fixed it instantly.  Thanks!!!
