Account Verification Error When Students Create Accounts

I am a high school teacher who is trying to get my students to sign up for Autodesk accounts.  Some of my students were able to get an education account without a problem, but I have dozens of others who aren't able to do it.  They have completed the account sign up (email, b-day, school, etc.) and are at the point where they should be asked to provide documentation to verify that they are a student, after hitting confirm on this page: https://www.autodesk.com/education/edu-software/overview?sorting=featured&filters=individual. After they hit confirm (before picture), students get an error (later picture) that says:

"Apologies for the delay. The verification system is currently experiencing a problem. We're working hard to resolve the issue. Please try again later."

It has been well over a month and my students still get this error and cannot verify their accounts.  I have had entire classes contact Autodesk Virtual Assistant with hardly any luck. At best, we were told to email the education support team.  The education support team said the problem was with SheerID, so we contacted them. SheerID said they had not received any requests for accounts with our email addresses.  We emailed the education support team back, but there has not been any response.  The one thing that has worked was is when customer service resets a student's account so they could start the process over, but finding an agent who is willing and able to do this is like finding a needle in a haystack.

My students' free trials have expired and I'm at the point where I may have drop Autodesk products altogether.  Some students with this error have been able to create and verify an account with a personal email, but not all of my students have a non-school email address.

I have spent way too much time trying to get accounts for my students and I'm extremely frustrated by the lack of support in doing so. I'm desperate and posting here hoping for someone who can fix the issue.

Hi @baranjaCHBQ9,

Thanks for posting these details and sorry to hear about all of the difficulty in getting your students access to Autodesk products.

Have you tried this new method for activating access on behalf of your class

As for the account verification errors, I know that our engineering team is working on that to put a fix in place.

In the meantime, let me know how the new method works as a solution for onboarding your students.

Regards,

Gabe

Unfortunately, I chose the network/lab option instead of the Education Single-User Subscriptions option. I did this because I have a computer lab that over 125 different students will use over the course of the year. At the time, I did not know how difficult it would be for a student to create and verify an account.  I also didn't fully understand the Education Single-User Subscriptions option.  I thought that I could only assign subscriptions to 125 unique students in total. I didn't understand that I could add/remove students based on enrollment so that I only had to stay under 125 students at one time.

I now know that the Education Single-User Subscriptions option is the proper one for me and that my IT team should have a separate account using the network/lab option. Is there any way to change my account to the Education Single-User Subscriptions option?

The network/lab option is only for installing and maintaining the software in your computer lab. It is separate from the process to grant your students licenses.

What @gabe.anderson is offering is a way for each teacher to assign a license to the students. Once they try to login with their school email address, let say on a school computer with Fusion 360 installed, they'll be guided though the process to complete their Autodesk student profile/account.

I no longer have the ability to select the option @gabe.anderson proposed because I (incorrectly) chose the network/lab option for my account.  What I am asking is if it is possible to switch my account from the network/lab to  the 125 seat option.

Here is what I see:

  • On the products page, I click the get license option for Fusion 360:

  • And I am sent to this screen, where I only see the option to install Fusion 360 in a lab.

I have a student, Vayle Clark that cannot verify his account, no matter what he tries he gets a red ribbon that says something to the effect of Sorry but the verification system is experiencing issues.  This isn't happening to any other student.

In addition, I have a student that somehow filled out a box incorrectly so when he signs in and tries to verify his account it shows his email as his first and last name.  No matter how many times we go into his account info we cannot get the application to accept his name instead of his email.  Consequently, he cannot verify his account because his uploaded transcript shows his name and not his email as his name.

Sincerely,

Hi @elee,

Thanks for posting and sorry to hear that your student is having difficulty.

The quickest way to get him onboarded would be to invite him using the 125-seat classroom option, which you can learn more about here.

To troubleshoot the specific issue if you want your student to self-register, could you please submit a support case via the question mark (?) in bottom right of this page?

Regards,

Gabe
